Chapter 12: Entrance Exam Mission Rewards

The following morning.

Hiro was glad to have used his very first synchronization experience in a friendly space, especially after experiencing the drawbacks.

Now, he was aware more than ever that while he could burrow the power of his in-game characters; it all lay with the foundation of his own body!

If his body in real life couldn't withstand the strain of synchronization, then it might lead to irreparable damage, and not some light consequence such as falling unconscious.

With this in mind, Hiro was even more worried about his upcoming breakthrough, cultivating magical powers, and increasing his strength in Transcendent Taoist!

As the last person to wake up, Hiro spent less than half an hour sorting out his thoughts and the vast amount of information that flooded his mind.

With his current knowledge base, passing the entrance exam was guaranteed. However, what comes next?

As Hiro was thinking, his phone buzzed with an incoming text message.

[Bella]: Come meet me at…

Looking at the message, Hiro shook his head and got up, washed his face, and left the side mansion reserved for the boys.

Behind the main mansion was the stables where Rosaline's family kept their horses.

The moment Hiro saw the stables, he saw two figures and a host of servants tending to the horses.

Well, Bella and Rosaline sat to the side, simply watching as the servants groomed and fed the horses.

Both of them looked over, and it was Bella who waved her hand, inviting Hiro to their side.

Although confused, Hiro followed her instructions and quickly approached them with a smile.

"Little brat and Her Highness, how can I help you two?" Hiro wasn't very concerned with etiquette, directly pulling a wooden stool over and plopping down in front of the two.

Bella rolled her eyes charmingly. "You don't need to act in front of us sisters, we've invited you over for your own good."

My own good? Hiro blinked, still waiting for an explanation.

Rosaline coughed, explaining, "It might have been an accident, but both of us and my family's higher-ups have noticed your anomaly yesterday…"

Hiro's eyes widened in shock, but before he could say anything, Rosaline continued.

"Don't worry," she told Hiro in a pacifying tone. "Although it's unexpected, an expert in the family examined your body and said that you might be undergoing a process we call 'Awakening', and you'll soon become a Paranormal…

"It's not confirmed, but the telltale signs are there, and we think that you touched the boundary during an intense moment of single-minded concentration. Nonetheless, since it happened in our territory, we are obliged to let you know what happened to you and what you're about to get yourself into if the awakening was successful.

"However, if you don't awaken and are stuck at the current level, I hope you don't go around talking too much. Otherwise…"

Rosaline thought that Hiro would panic even more, but after hearing her explanation, he patted his chest and sighed in relief.

That was scary… Hiro almost thought they discovered his system and abilities to burrow power from an outside source.

However, this was also a wake-up call for Hiro.

He shouldn't act as careless in the future.

After making that mental note, he lifted his head to meet Rosaline's eyes. "I… so what I felt yesterday wasn't just an illusion, was it?"

"I'm afraid not," Rosaline shook her head and sighed, her feelings a mystery. "As for you, I suppose you can be considered a Tier-9 Paranormal, albeit barely. Strictly speaking, you're still a Tier-10 human, but you've momentarily touched the Tier-9 boundary."

As Rosaline was talking, she fiddled with her phone and sent him a link to a forum post on a random fandom website for RPG combat discussions.

"There are millions of fandom websites like this on the internet, but this particular user is considered to be the spokesperson for the major events in our society. It's an open secret. If you want fundamental information, just scroll through his newsfeed."

Bella spoke up, "If you become a real Paranormal one day, I'll let you in on the grownups table as my little henchman!"

She sounded very proud about it, and Hiro couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

After he promised not to do anything reckless in public again, the three of them said goodbye and parted ways.

When they were far enough, Bella finally couldn't hold it in anymore and raised her doubts, "Hey, it's not like your old man to pay so much attention to matters like these, what happened last night?"

Rosaline looked back at the distant figure growing ever-so-blurry as she mumbled, "I don't know... because the old man himself isn't sure either. Anyway, he tasked me to build a good relationship with him, so I guess giving him this warning could be considered as a display of goodwill."

Bella pouted, lights gleaming in her eyes.

Everything proceeded smoothly from then on, and quickly, it was high noon.

Everyone went to the school grounds, submitted their applications, and were escorted into the cold and silent classrooms for their exams.

Each exam lasted for one hour with a fifteen-minute break between each exam, and so… five stressful hours passed by.

With today's technology, it would take one more hour for the computer to tally the results and send them to the students via their student application to their email and phone number.

At 18:00 O'clock sharp, Hiro heard three beautiful bell chimes.

One from his email, another from his text messages, and another from the system!

Hiro was so excited he began to tremble and shake in place, and while he was trying hard to suppress his excitement, Marcus slapped him on the back out of nowhere.

"Haha," Marcus laughed while waving his phone that displayed his emai. "I'm also excited to have been accepted, and since you're this happy, there's no need to hold it in! It's the time to celebrate!"

The slap from Marcus brought Hiro back to the current reality, and he immediately calmed down and suppressed his excitement.

"You're right," Hiro said, quickly gathering his jacket and shoes. "I need to go somewhere to celebrate! Don't wait for me tonight!"

Marcus was stunned, as he planned to say that they could celebrate together. However, Hiro already left the room by the time Marcus opened his mouth.

Hiro went downstairs, exited to the street, and hailed a taxi to the nearest 3-star hotel.

He was planning to spend tonight in his system space, and he planned to get a new game where he could actively navigate his character!

During his one hour of waiting for the exams results, he already browsed through the link Rosaline sent his way. In a sense, the Paranormal Society was a mess.

Magi, cultivators, werewolves, vampires, holy elements, mutants, etc.

The world was infested with them, hence the unification of power, a decree from the Holy Church, and the power tiers system.

With that in mind, tiers were separated based on their destructive capabilities, but it could get more complicated than that.

In any case, it wasn't for Hiro to worry about.

Hiro's current priority was to ingest the sorcerer potion, then get himself a game with focus on sorcery.

Since there's a sorcerer's potion, does that mean I can awaken more potions in the future?

It was surely something worth looking forward to, and with these thoughts in mind, Hiro booked a room on short notice after paying an additional 35% fee to the hotel.

Heart beating wildly, he locked himself into his hotel room and went for the bed.
