“Ye Qi, I fancy some ice cream, could you get some for me? I’ll be waiting over there,” Gu Qingxin took out twenty yuan from her pocket and handed it to him, adding, “I’ll treat you as a return gift.”

He accepted the money and strolled over to a nearby ice-cream booth. On his way back, he collided with someone due to the large crowd.

Ye Qi felt a metallic object brush against him. He turned around to look at the man who had bumped into him; the man also looked back at him…

Ye Qi’s pupils contracted sharply. He turned to look in Gu Qingxin’s direction. She was sitting on a bench in the middle of the square, probably massaging her legs because they were sore.

The evening wind blew her long hair, obscuring her face. She brushed her hair back behind her ears and looked at him, giving him a soft smile.

Like a radar, Ye Qi’s gaze filtered out irrelevant people, focusing on a few unidentified men who were approaching Gu Qingxin from different directions.

Ye Qi quickly moved towards Gu Qingxin carrying the ice cream. Upon seeing him coming, she stood up and started to walk towards him…

A man dressed in black had reached her side and was about to clutch her arm when Ye Qi threw the bowl of ice cream in his hand directly at the man’s face.

Gu Qingxin realized something was amiss and ran towards Ye Qi without hesitation.

The men who were headed towards Gu Qingxin drew guns at the same time. Ye Qi threw another bowl of ice cream, hitting one of them.

“Miss!” Ye Qi rapidly threw a few daggers from his hands, running quickly to Gu Qingxin, embracing her and swiftly sidestepping.

“Bang bang bang!” Shots echoed across Rainbow Square…

While holding Gu Qingxin, Ye Qi was not fast enough. In the attempt to protect her, both his arm and leg were shot.

The crowd scattered in chaos, some tripping over one another, crying and screaming in fear. As it was evening, most of the people were elderly or children.

Throughout this, Ye Qi didn’t utter a word, his face was frighteningly cold. Gu Qingxin clutched onto Ye Qi’s hand anxiously, feeling it become wet with blood.

“You’re hurt!” Gu Qingxin looked up at him anxiously.

“It’s just a minor wound!” Ye Qi held her as they rapidly retreated.

The men who were pursuing Gu Qingxin continued to close in. Ye Qi threw a few more knives, eliminating several of them, then drew a gun and shot at one of them.

In spite of his skills, Ye Qi was outnumbered and more importantly, he needed to protect Gu Qingxin, so he was at a disadvantage. He was soon shot in the waist…

“Their target is me, Ye Qi let go of me!” Gu Qingxin tried hard to push him away.

It was obvious that these men were after her!

“Since she was entrusted to me by the young master, I will protect you until my last breath!” Ye Qi’s voice was full of resolve as he shielded her behind him, retreating behind an advertisement billboard.

Ye Qi fired a few more shots at the approaching men, killing two more.

But the number of men this time was far too many, and they had started shooting at the crowd.

The unarmed people in the crowd could only scream and run in every direction with no possibility to fight back.
