Chapter 715 - It’s a Pity You Survived (3)
The corner of Li Meili's curled up as she thought of how Zhang Jiren was taking their marriage seriously although it was just a contractual one. Whoever he was going to love and be with in the future once they divorced would be lucky because she had no doubt that he would be a wonderful husband and good father to his own family someday.
It was a pity though that she had taken two years of his life, or else he would have his free time to do his work or meet a woman he could date without her interfering with his life.
"It's okay. Moyu is with me so you have nothing to worry about." She answered. "You don't have to go to that extent to act as a doting husband." She whispered in a low voice.
"I see…" Zhang Jiren tapped his fingers lightly over his desk and stared out the window of the conference room they were in. If only he wasn't too busy with work, he would want to accompany her today.
The meeting had just ended, but it was too late for him to show up at the hospital to see his wife. Zhang Jiren also didn't think that his twin sister would want to see him so soon. He wasn't that dumb not to know that Tang Moyu didn't acknowledge him at all as her brother, especially not when Tang Beixuan had just died.
But what Li Meili said was right. It was better for them to have some safe distance between them or else she might get attached to him at some point. The last thing he would want was for her to rely on him over the two years they were together.
"The doctor gave me a booklet with some recommendations on it. I'm sure Elder Lan can help me plan the meals." He heard her say.
"I can help you too." Zhang Jiren said playfully.
"Can you even cook?" Li Meili challenged him. They were husband and wife but she didn't know much about Zhang Jiren at all.
"Don't underestimate me, Li Meili. I'm not only good at handling businesses." He chuckled.
"Heh, who would have thought that CEO Zhang has some tricks hidden under his sleeves." Li Meili adjusted the sling of her bag on her shoulder and saw that Tang Moyu had finished talking to the receptionist.
"I should go now. I will be home by dinner. I plan to spend some time with Moyu's twins." She told Zhang Jiren before hanging up the phone call and placing her phone back inside her purse.
"Who was it?" Tang Moyu asked, allowing Gu Yuyao to hold on to her good arm, with a wide smile on her face.
"Feng Tianyi isn't home, right?" Gu Yuyao asked Tang Moyu. "Why don't we have a good time? Let's invite Lin Qianrou and her cousin too."
"Right. I haven't seen or talked to Qian for a while now." Li Meili agreed. After all, it had been a hectic few weeks for her.
Also, it would be a good time to try some of Auntie Lu's delicious cooking. She hadn't eaten them for some time too. Not that she didn't enjoy Elder Lan's cooking, but she had already grown accustomed to Tang Moyu's nanny over the years they have been together.
"Then let's go. We will be able to join Baobao and Little Star for lunch if we could make it in time." Tang Moyu said as Li Meili adjusted the coat that was hanging over the empress's shoulder before they left and stepped into the main hallway of the OB-GYN department.
Outside, Tang Moyu's bodyguards were waiting. They coordinated with another team that was waiting outside the hospital for the three women. The three walked into the elevator together, joining the other guests and patients of the hospital with three bodyguards accompanying them inside.
Because of her outstanding looks, Tang Moyu earned the attention and curious gazes of the other people inside the elevator, but she paid them no attention to them as she was already used to it. There was nothing she could do to stop them from staring at her.
When they arrived at the main lobby of the hospital, Tang Moyu knitted her brows as there was a crowd of people waiting outside the elevator once the doors opened. The three bodyguards pushed their way and made a space for Tang Moyu and her friends.
Some of the people stepped back and gave way but it was almost impossible for Tang Moyu and her friends to leave the place in peace, considering how busy and fully packed the hospital was. It seemed like there was an emergency as several ambulances arrived at once.
"It's a pity you survived. There wouldn't be a next time, Madam Feng." Tang Moyu heard a gruff masculine voice behind her back and she immediately turned around to see who it was.
However, the people crowding earlier fought their way into the elevator they vacated earlier and she couldn't identify the person who uttered those words.
"Madam?" One of her female bodyguards stood next to her once they noticed that she had stopped in her tracks.
"He's here. Someone approached me and warned me. I'm sure he was behind me earlier." Tang Moyu whispered.
The three bodyguards shared a knowing look with each other and nodded in understanding. They looked around. trying to find if they could see someone suspicious tailing them.
"We will check on it, Madam but for now, it's important that you leave this place at once." Her bodyguard said before notioning the other team that was waiting for them to take Tang Moyu and her friends back at the Feng Mansion.
"Is everything alright, Moyu?" Li Meili asked worriedly.
"Nothing to be worried about, Meili."
Tang Moyu bit her inner cheek and patted her friend's arm. Li Meili wasn't aware that Tang Beixuan's death was premeditated. The empress didn't tell her yet because she didn't want Li Meili to lose focus from her pregnancy out of rage towards whoever was responsible for her brother's death.
