Chapter 700: Already
Chapter 700: Already
Linzie dashed out from the brush, appearing behind Sylas as though she didn't see the danger ahead at all. Her spear carved through the air, thrusting right for the location of Sylas' brain stem.
Sylas didn't even have the chance to scan the large snail BOSS in the distance. Truthfully, he hadn't expected this woman to be so reckless. She had a hatred for him that went beyond common reason. Clearly, he had done something to her.
As for what it was, Sylas couldn't be bothered to care for it.
A shield of Glass appeared behind Sylas' neck.
CRACK.
The spear throttled right through it, but it still weakened enough to give Sylas the time to slap his tail at the body of the spear and send it over his shoulder rather than through his spine and brain.
Sylas' grappling instincts kicked in as he executed a hip throw in a single fluid motion.
Linzie crashed into the ground so heavily all the air was knocked out of her for the second time in what felt like just as many seconds.
Sylas raised up his foot, sending it smashing down toward her head. A frosty ice pulsed through his heel and Linzie found herself in a daze.
The Sylas she had faced earlier was so much weaker. Why was he suddenly so sharp and powerful? If she had known this would happen, she would have never overextended herself like this.
What she didn't know was that the Sylas she had "faced" was in the middle of an all-out assault on his mind. He couldn't even gather enough focus to deal with the monkeys around him that were weakened to half their stats, let alone deal with her properly.
PENG! PENG! PENG!
Sylas' gaze sharpened as several Glass barriers appeared around his foot.
The barriers shattered one after another in quick succession, but the powerful arrow was enough to push Sylas' stomp off course.
BANG!
Sylas' hit drove into the ground and ice exploded around it. Half of Linzie's face was covered in that instant, but she still managed to roll away.
CRACK.
Linzie's armor's energy finally gave way as sparkling ice fell. The poison had corroded the last of her defenses, and the durability of her armor hit o. Now it was nothing more than a heavy mass hanging uselessly from her torso.
Sylas' head snapped toward a direction, but he couldn't see the archer clearly, and they were also outside the range of his visualization. However, he could feel several gazes on him as Butch lumbered out from the forest line.
A charge-type Skill activated as Butch stormed toward Sylas.
Sylas took a breath, realizing that this situation would only quickly grow out of hand. The only reason that they were so confidently attacking him here was probably because they knew something that he didn't. Judging by the fact the snail still hadn't made a move, that likely meant that it wasn't going to anytime soon.
If Sylas had to make a guess, the snail probably took a "don't provoke me and I won't provoke you" approach. But that left him between a rock and a hard place.
The number of government officials would only increase, and now they knew exactly where he was. While to his back, there was an army that he couldn't even begin to provoke.
Sylas' gaze seemed to solidify as he made a decision.
BOOM!
Butch didn't know what happened.
In one moment, he was charging toward Sylas, ready to send him flying into the army of Fire Monkeys.
But in the next, he was sent flying back even faster than he came. As his vision blurred, all he could see was a wall of black scales.
Sylas stood on the Basilisk King's head, his Beast Totem forming a pair of golden eyes to his back as he loomed over ten meters above everyone else.
The Basilisk King's Strength and Constitution both soared over 3000, but Sylas' mind seemed elsewhere.
He pressed his hands together in a focused push as one Rune after another formed around him. Without the Scorpion King's Blood Essence, it took much longer for him to complete it. But did it matter when he had the support of a Legendary Contract?
SHOOM!
The last of the Runes took shape and Sylas' Scorpion Warlord Armor solidified.
Large amounts of Aether rushed toward him as his 40% Mastery armor bloomed with life.
"Go."
The Basilisk King swayed its tail, slapping it against the ground and then shooting toward the army of Fire Monkeys. Its powerful abdominal muscles left deep trenches in the ground with every slither, and in a moment, they had already crashed against the first line.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Fire Monkeys, Fire Rhinos, and Fire Wolves alike found themselves flying through the air.
Sylas' gaze focused as several Glass daggers appeared around him. With an intent of his telekinesis, they rocketed forward, piercing into the bodies of one Fire Monkey after another.
Under the effects of Glass Monkey Slayer, the 1000 Attack limit of Sylas' Glass was more than enough to shred them to pieces, and in just a few breaths, it looked as though Sylas had already carved over 30% of the way to the Portal.
But it was then that, like an awakening dragon, the army stirred.
The snail seemed to have been in a dormant state earlier, but when it was disturbed, its eyes snapped open.
WHOOSH!
CRACK.
The dome of the sky shattered and the Runes that Sylas had seen above his head earlier weren't able to sustain themselves any longer.
But the moment this domain collapsed, a new, surging pressure took form.
The antenna of the snail swayed as its eyes snapped open. Its shell, glowing like resplendent rubies, danced with complex Runes as it turned its attention toward Sylas.
It took no more than a glance for Sylas to feel as though his entire body had frozen over.
The snail didn't need his System Curse to become a Bronze King Beast.
It already was one.
