Chapter 221: Dragon Style III

#18th minute…

Since the match began, both teams had been playing hard and fast attacking football against each other and even after going at each other constantly for almost one-third of an hour, they were still going as strong as when the match just began.]

At this time, Porto was with the ball and they were once again launching an attack on the Rangers team.

Sergio Oliveira had just sent the ball to Otavio who was about halfway between the edge of the Rangers team’s 18-yard box and the halfway line.

On receiving the ball, Otavio immediately sent the ball toward Jason who was at the left corner of Rangers’ 18-yard box.

Jason sent the ball that was coming his way towards Tiquinho Soares who was infield with a one-touch pass and immediately moved, making a dash past his marker and heading into the 18-yard box of the opponents.

Soares sent the ball back to Otavio with a one-touch pass as well and the moment the ball reached Otavio, he immediately sent a through pass curling between the Rangers defenders on the left side.

The ball appeared into the path of Jason who was already making the run into the Rangers team’s penalty box and he immediately stretched his right foot forward to catch the ball and bring it under control.

Managing to do that without any problems, Jason changed his direction slightly and faced the Rangers goalkeeper who was already coming at him.

Maintaining maximum composure, Jason coolly curled the ball around the goalkeeper with a right-footed shot and sent the ball into the back of the net before turning and running down the sidelines.

{It’s in!}

{He’s propelled his team forward with yet another moment of brilliance!}

{Dynamic build-up play, excellent decision-making, and a perfectly executed finish!}

{It doesn’t get any better than this! Their opponents cannot understand what just happened as it had happened too fast for them to react!}

{However, one statement can explain the situation!}

{Porto are in front!} The commentator began delivering his poetic lines as Jason ran down the sidelines and jumped into the air while pumping his fist.

The remaining Porto players headed to the sidelines as well to celebrate the goal while the Porto fans in their homes made all sorts of excited gestures while some of them even shouted “GOAL!” at the top of their voices.

No two Porto fans’ reactions were exactly the same, but the one thing that was the same was that they were happy that they had gotten a goal.

The celebrations didn’t take long as there were still more than seventy minutes left in the match and a lot of things could happen so the Porto players soon regained their focused and determined moods and put aside their excitement as they headed back to their half of the field to await kickoff.

#36th minute…

Even after Porto had opened up the match with Jason’s goal earlier, they had not reduced their efforts at trying to get another one past the Rangers goalkeeper and had been a constant source of trouble for the Rangers defenders, but so far they hadn’t been able to achieve what they sought after.

The Rangers team on the other hand were not looking idly and were launching attack after attack whenever they gained possession of the ball.

They understood that this was no time to sit back and try to control the game, especially with the way Porto was taking shots that were coming dangerously close to extending their lead.

Rangers had been in possession of the ball for the last minute and they had been passing the ball around cleverly as they moved the ball farther into the Porto team half.

Ryan Kent, Rangers left winger had just received the ball from James Tavernier and he swiftly accelerated past Wilson Manafa and tried to send a cross into the box at the waiting head of Rangers striker, Joe Aribo.

As the ball flew into the box, Ivan Marcano immediately lunged at the ball mid-air and cleared the ball before it could reach the Rangers striker.

The ball flew out of Porto’s penalty box and headed towards Danilo Perreira who headed the ball at Sergio Oliveira immediately the ball reached him.

Catching the ball on his chest while holding off his marker, Sergio Oliveira let the ball fall to his feet after it bounced off his chest and once the ball was at his feet, he did not hesitate to send it forward down the left side of the field.

On the left was Jason who received the ball on the left side of Porto’s half of the field, just about a meter from the halfway line.

Immediately flicking the ball forward, Jason took off into the Rangers half of the field but he had barely moved two meters past the halfway line when he squared up against the Rangers team’s right back.

Jason immediately slowed his pace but kept advancing and did a couple of step-overs as he drew nearer to the player.

Once he was close enough to the Rangers player, the player immediately tried to tackle him, but Jason suddenly moved the ball to the left as if he planned to move towards the left.

The Rangers immediately followed Jason’s leg movement and tried to tackle the ball, but Jason suddenly moved his leg past the ball and snapped the ball back to the right in a smoothly executed reverse elastico.

The Rangers right back immediately tried to correct his movement but that led to him losing his footing and tripping over himself while Jason moved past him unhindered and continued his dash down the left side of the field.

The path down the left side of the field was completely free after Jason had gotten past the Rangers’ right back, but the goal was in the center of the field and not on the left side so Jason quickly sent a through pass into Otavio’s path as Otavio ran down the center of the field.

Receiving the ball while moving, Otavio flicked the ball forward and continued advancing towards the Rangers team’s penalty box, not slowing his pace even one bit.

The Rangers defenders soon changed their target to Otavio who was with the ball and immediately began running at him instead, but in doing so they had left open a bit of space for someone to get through.

Otavio had seen the open space and immediately sent a chip pass over the defenders and toward the direction of the open space.

Tiquinho Soares suddenly appeared behind the Rangers defenders and caught the ball on his knee, sending it towards the ground and running into the penalty box before smoothly making quick work of the goalkeeper and sending the net bulging.
