Chapter 206 City Of Angels
Lilly was not joking when she made the offer. She had been tasked to find a suitable model, and Samuel fit the profile. His facial features were ungodly, and he had enough fame behind him to pull customers.
"Don't be kidding; Armani still lacks a spokesperson? With your presence, you could pull anybody." As expected, Samuel took it as a joke.
"No, no, no, Sami, we are ready to enter the Asia-Pacific market, and your image is too perfect. If I am being honest, you don't fit into any specific facial category, which is why it is quite easy for you." Lily said solemnly.
She was really pushing it, pestering him every couple of minutes. Samuel ended up accepting it; he was not under any exclusive contract.
After finishing the styling, he gave her his word and waited for his parents in the lobby while munching on a light snack.
The charity dinner was set to be in the form of a buffet, but he knew everyone would be busy with entertainment and greetings. He might not get a chance to eat.
Those exquisite foods were mostly for decorations, and no one will really fill their stomachs. If they did, they would become the laughingstock of the upper class. He is all too aware of how these things work after attending countless of them.
Not long after, Robert and Laura both came downstairs.
When they saw their son were amazed for a while.
" He deserves to be my son! I was again reminded of my younger days." Robert exclaimed.
" Huh? It is a blessing he didn't take after you. He is my son! You could tell by his hair colour." Laura was blonde; it was natural that it resembled white more than Robert's dark hair.
" Mother, Father, did you forget I am adopted?" Samuel asked innocently.
" Don't say that even as a joke!" Laura showed an angry face.
" It's fine. I don't really mind."
" Perhaps because he was always susceptive since the beginning," Robert muttered.
" Yeah."
" Why the long faces? Even though we are not related by blood, I always considered you two my parents." His words pierced their souls.
" Wait- geez, mother, don't cry; you would ruin your makeup. Hey father, why are you hiding your face? Arthur, bring me something- not you too!" Samuel tried to diffuse the situation. They had been compassionate since my sibling's birth.
Some might feel that is a threat to their position but not Samuel. He wholeheartedly loved this family, and even if they asked him to abandon his status as an heir, he would do it in a heartbeat. It was not like he wanted to be one in the first place.
""We are so proud of you, son!""

Two Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé, one black and one white, surrounded by four heavy-duty SUV convoys, drove to the Four Seasons Hotel.
This was the first time Samuel had participated in a charity dinner of such a scale. It would be wrong to say that he was not nervous; more importantly, he was more curious.
What kind of scene would he witness today? Some big names were involved tonight.
Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills offered a glamorous yet understated urban oasis that had made it the long-time favourite of Hollywood. In 1998, it was a top five-star hotel as a place for celebrities and gentlemen.
The sponsor of this charity dinner was Douglas Rickman, a well-known politician. As the deputy leader of the Democratic Party of the United States, he held considerable pull in the government.
This event was intended to increase the prestige and popularity of the party, as well as to raise funds. But elections were more than cash; what one needed to show was power!
Douglas Rickman invited many regional dignitaries and super-rich people to the charity dinner. Of course, some famous film and television characters were also indispensable, but Samuel was not worried about them.
His "Proteus" title made it hard for people to recognize him; he had already tested this ability.
Hollywood stars were an indispensable link. After all, it was to increase their fame, and if they met a few super big guys, they would not have to worry about support for the rest of their lives. Especially female celebrities, they were a 'staple'.
The night view of LA was unique. Although the sky was not clear because of pollution, the shimmering lights and tall buildings had their own charm. The bustling streets with rushing traffic made one understand the reality of life, ever-changing and fleeting as the wind.
The reputation of "City of Angels" was not for nothing.
Soon, two rows of golden palm coconut trees soon came into view, signalling that they were at the venue's entrance. The hotel had specially opened up a unique channel for this charity dinner. After all, the guests this time were well-known figures.
The convoy was accurately parked at the entrance of the special passage. The security personnel left after giving a slight salute; they had to spread out and look for any potential threat.
The well-trained welcoming guests swiftly stepped forward and respectfully opened the door to welcome the guests.
Following his parents, Samuel got out of the car and fixed the slight wrinkles on his tuxedo. It was not a long drive, but that's what happens when you wear formal.
They walked into the Four Seasons Hotel with staff guidance. For this banquet, the hotel also opened three dedicated elevators. There was a particular person to check the invitation letter at the elevator entrance.
He respectfully accepted the invitation letter from Robert, but when he saw the golden lace, he instantly became alert. This lace symbolized the most distinguished guest, and they were not to be offended.
He hurriedly guided three of them personally toward the elevator at the expense of making other guests wait in line.
" Honey, why is he acting like that?" The woman next in line was confused.
" Didn't you see that invitation card? Ours is blue, but there was golden; now, do you understand why I told you to be mindful here." Her date was explained.
" I-i will keep it in mind."
" They looked very influential if somehow we could get closer to them-"
" Don't! What if something goes wrong?"
" You are right. We barely got the invitation; we should take it slow." Under the woman's warning, the man came back to reality.
The banquet was held in the most luxurious hall on the hotel's top floor. Inside the elevator was all glass, making it possible to see outside; Samuel looked at the scenery as the elevator continued rising.
Laura naturally took Robert's arm, and Samuel followed the steps of his parents closely, fully getting into the mood. They were the supreme lord. Thus, they had to exude confidence and walk with dignity, befitting their reputation.
The venue's magnificent gate was open, welcoming the guests and 'maids' were lined up on both sides, greeting them as guests passed by them.
For this banquet, the Four Seasons Hotel deliberately used young female models and beauties which they had picked from several well-known modelling agencies. This was the sole place tonight where one couldn't find a single 'average' girl.
