Chapter 214 Famous?
"Mother, Father, Good morning." Samuel met up with his parents for breakfast. It was the morning after the banquet, but they woke up early to prepare for their flight.
"Hmm, I really was starving." Samuel commented on the breakfast. Although it was simple toast and butter, he had a very wild night. By the end, he never got to enjoy the dinner.
"I'm relieved to see you still have such an appetite," Robert said. For some reason, both his parents were smiling mischievously at him.
Samuel was perplexed.
"What do you mean?" He asked. He was getting some vague premonitions like something terrible had happened. Up until now, his gut feelings were never wrong.
"Haha, this is today's newspaper. You can read it when you have time. I'll have an appointment at branch office." His father left after placing a pile of newspapers beside him. It's only eight in the morning, what office opens at eight? Samuel thought.
Samuel suspiciously took a newspaper off the pile, "The New York Times," the front-page headline "Four Diva's Fighting Husband?"
"Puff..." he spilled a mouthful of milk upon reading the title. Laura called a few people to clean up the mess while chuckling in satisfaction.
Yesterday night's every move was transcribed vividly by the reporter's pen. It was almost like he was there in person.
Some materials had been exaggerated, but the overall situation differed significantly from the facts.
"I remember there was no reporter at the scene last night." Samuel decided to ask his mother.
"Silly, how can Douglas not invite the media for such a charity banquet?" Laura spread her hands and shrugged before continuing, "It's just that your attention has been on 'the four divas'! hehe."
"Mom, Why are you smirking when your son is accused of being a player?" He could only think about it. He never dared to say it out loud.
" Nonsense! and when did the New York Times start paying attention to gossips and what's more outrageous is that they printed it on the front page?" Samuel could only complain about it as he reached for another newspaper.
"The Global Times" printed "Maia who was hurt by love, escaped from LA overnight! " Surprisingly, they even attached the picture. It was a shot of Maia and her family boarding a private jet.
Fuck, this scummy reporter! How did he get inside the airport?
Samuel decided to protest LA's airport security! It needed to be strengthened to avoid future troubles.
In the photo, Maia's figure was a bit lonely and bleak, coupled with the reporter's description. It was so well written that Samuel almost believed it.
" Rumors, this is all just baseless rumors." While reading, Samuel grumbled. He moved to The Washington Post next.
A reporter from their newspaper stopped Paige at the Hydrik Hotel last night after the banquet to ask some questions.
Reporter: Can you elaborate on your relationship with Samuel?
Paige: Sami, he is a very attractive person. Many girls vying for his attention is not an exaggeration.
But the 'husband' title is definitely inappropriate.
Do I like Samuel? Hmm... I can only tell you that I have a good impression. Ok?
About the question that I have a lousy relationship with Iblis and Maia is not valid. We are good sisters! If you don't believe me, ask them.
By some freak luck, Iblis was also staying in the same hotel. The reporters were fortunate to catch her in the lobby. She also heard Paige's remarks about Samuel.
Iblis: Everything she is saying is false! Samuel already has a fiancee, it has been eight years, but you must have heard about it.
Paige whispered a few words to one of the reporters. He immediately came forward and asked the question.
"Miss, but our sources say that it was fake engagement. Can you comment on this?"
" What did you say?" Iblis stomped her feet and glared at Paige, who had a snickering from the back.
" No comment." Iblis left without an explanation.
It was a beautifully written piece that became more like a drama script than news reporting.
"Oh my God! Paige is really fearless. There were only few people that could outspeak Iblis." Samuel thought as he began scanning through other papers.
"Wall Street Journal" headline "The Only Heir of the Rothschild Consortium." The article thoroughly turned described Samuel. They made bullet point's analyzing his pros one by one.
Handsome, rich, from a wealthy family, outstanding temperament, etc. The later part was written describing his body? What the hell!
"Los Angeles Times," headline " Most powerful second generation, Sami! "
It felt like the whole US was gossiping about him over breakfast. He had been made a protagonist and weirdly became famous over silly reasons. Samuel was not opposed to being famous. He was already a superstar because of his role as 'Harry,' but his authentic self was also getting some traction.
Sooner or later, both his personas would become famous. If he was someone else, he could definitely monetize himself twice!
Wait, Samuel felt like he was missing something important. He was unable to place it.
"Shit, Adele." Samuel thought. Now that he thought about it. There was going to be a big problem in the future.
It had been a few months since they met, and right after the 'accident,' he lost contact with her. The same situation happened when he first got engaged to Iblis in the past.
He calmed his mind. It was useless to think about it now.
" Mother, I'm going to see Darren. I will be back before your flight leaves." After finishing breakfast, Samuel decides to follow his plan.
" Ok, I wish I could also accompany you, but there are a few designers I had to meet before leaving." Laura asked. It was also not long since their last meeting, so she was sure Simon and Audrey would not mind it.
...
...
...
Samuel took the family car and headed toward the Wintringham Estate. It was half an hour's ride from his current residency. While inside the vehicle, he tried to contact Adele, but all his calls went straight to voicemail.
It was not like he had expected her to answer. In the end, he left a few messages explaining the situation. It was so that she would not overreact the next time he met her.
Adele was in school when she received his messages. She felt amused reading it; it felt like a desperate plea.
"Hehe, love saint decided to contact me? I am sorry, but I am busy reading the newspapers!" Samuel was elated at first, but reading her reply, he literally died.
" I could have done nothing about it. And you basically ghosted me after that night; how are you these days?" Samuel sent a few awkward texts but never got any reply.
"I guess it will take a lot more to coax her." He thought and left it alone for now.
It took only two or three days for reporters to retreat; they could find nothing substantial. This was the nature of such news. They came fast and went even quicker. It would not take long before Samuel's life be normal again, granted he stayed away from the limelight for a while.
