Chapter 218 Appointment-1
It's been a few days since Samuel bought the cars. He was enjoying a rare holiday, but that was about to end. He had too many things on this trip to the states.
First, he had an appointment at the studio headquarters. It was scheduled when they learned that Samuel would be visiting LA. Now that he was here, he ought to keep his promise.
He picked up Darren and headed toward the Hollywood district, Burbank. Burbank was a city in the southeastern end of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.
It was like a hub of Hollywood in the 1960s and 1970s when more of the Hollywood entertainment industry began relocating to Burbank. Because of this, people gave it an interesting name, "Media Capital of the World".
Companies like Warner Bros. Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company, Nickelodeon Animation Studio etc., were settled in this valley.
" Couldn't you have let me drive? You don't even let me touch the steering wheels!" Darren grumbled. It had already been a few days, and by now, he expected Samuel to come around and let him drive the Spyker.
"It's nothing personal, but I don't trust you with my baby. You didn't exactly leave a good experience with your driving skills." Zero to a hundred in less than four seconds; there was no way in hell he would give such a beast in Darren's hand.
" I will just ask for one as an early Christmas present."
" Haha, you could try. Just remember how scarce the supply is." Samuel reminded him.
" Forget it then. By the way, I don't see those guys following you. I can't believe you are here all alone." Darren pointed out.
" Well, If you talking about Steve and the others, they are taking a long vacation. Besides, I don't need any protection."
" Huh, You seem confident. Did you acquire some invincible armour or something? I can't believe Aunt Laura would ever leave you alone here."
" Something like that. You don't have to worry, though; I am sure a couple of them are still hiding in the shadows; they are very persistent."
" I see. But as long as you are here, you don't have to worry about anything. This is our home turf; no one would touch you here."
" Spoken like a true mafia boss."
" Fuck you"
The journey was short because of their exciting conversation. They reached the WB headquarters, where people were already waiting for him. Samuel had been working with the company for eight years, but it was his time to visit the main office.
He had heard about the media giant and the secrets surrounding it. Although it might be a little early for him to make his move, he had to be cautious. He scanned the whole building, fifty story building, just in case.
" Samuel?" Darren seeing the absent look on his face, asked worriedly.
" Darren, whatever happens, don't overreact inside, alright?" Samuel whispered. Darren nodded, but he was curious. It was not like they were going inside the enemy lines to meet their general; what's with this sudden seriousness?
" Sir? You arrived early; I am afraid you must wait a few minutes." The head secretary said politely. She had strict orders to keep the 'guests' waiting for a few minutes before sending them inside.
" Ok, we will wait." So that's how you are going to play it, old man. Samuel smiled.
He could see a few people coming and going before them. Samuel took out his phone and started fiddling around while Darren was utterly bored; he could only look out the window while yawning.
" What the hell, man! I was hyped because of what you said earlier. But I never expected this!" Like most young adults these days, he, too, needed constant distraction to cure his boredom.
" Huh? Wait a minute, Where did you get that? Is it the new iPhone?" He snatched Samuel's phone and began looking at it with utmost curiosity.
" Hey, give it back, man. It's just a prototype I received; I will get you one too!" Samuel feared he would send some weird text to one of his acquaintances.
" You said it first! But I want one by the time you leave; I have been burned too many times by your 'specific' contract rules."
" Ok, I promise." Darren tossed it back as something else caught his attention again.
" Look, it's the 'Alright, Alright, Alright, man'!" He pointed toward the high hallway.
" Who the fuck is 'Alright, Alright, Alright, man'?" Samuel thought but followed his fingers and spotted a familiar face. Darren rushed toward that person and greeted him enthusiastically.
"Mr Matt, I am a big fan! Can I take a picture with you?"
Samuel, who was watching from the far, was facepalming. He couldn't fathom Darren's childish behaviour.
" Look at him fangirling; Uncle and aunt really had it tough, huh." He sighed. But Matt? His name was a bit different. Initially, it was Matthew. Regardless, He had to stop Darren. If he didn't do it now, who knew what problem he would create.
" I am sorry for my friend's behaviour. *Hey, cut it out! You told me you would behave.*"
" No, it's alright, I was just surprised because he suddenly rushed-" Matt was going with his usual response when he noticed that the young man looked familiar. He couldn't put a finger around it, but he had definitely seen him before.
" It's okay. I don't mind a quick photo." He decided it was best to stay neutral. It was some part his instinct, and the other was the young man's looks. Their identity had to be remarkable.
Darren did a victory pose as Samuel captured it with his phone. Just then, the secretary asked for Samuel and Darren; thus, they had to part ways. Matt was here for some business regarding his recent movie, Fool's gold.
It was customary for the studio to call their actors for some reshoots or contract adjustments. While Matt was heading out, he suddenly remembered where he had seen the young man.
" What happened? Why are you yelling, man?" His agent asked. It was Matt's prime years, and they couldn't afford any accidents.
" I just recalled where I had seen him."
" Who? Those young men back there?"
" Yes, that white-haired man was definitely Samuel Rothschild. He was all over the news a few days ago."
" What's that had to do with us? You would look like an old geezer fawning over a young boy if you keep behaving like this." the agent said jokingly.
" I am not talking about that. It's the company's headquarters; what if he is trying to produce some movie? I could at least have greeted him." He was approaching forty; it would be nice to have some wealthy friends, right?
" Seriously, man, you are behaving like you got rejected. Don't you believe in me? I will get you the best roles in the industry!" the agent tapped his chest and said proudly.
" Yeah, I believe you," Matt said with a smile.
It was a short meeting, and it was questionable if he would ever get such a chance, but he had nothing to worry about, his career was only starting, but he didn't know it yet!
