I have a wildlife zoo

Chapter 36: 36 Recruitment, Ruthless Sister and Muscle Monster!

The next morning, trucks laden with landscape stones and construction materials once again rolled in, and the number of engineering vehicles had almost doubled, their actions could be described as telekinetic.

The construction team summoned by the system was invincible!

As long as Fang Ye designed the landscape on the construction interface, they would get to work immediately, without the need for communication or coordination, constructing everything accurately with the utmost efficiency.

If construction was likened to doing a test, normally one would need to think and calculate before writing an answer, but now, the first two steps were skipped, and they went straight to writing the answer—the speed was akin to cheating.

It was as if they were indeed cheating.

From the plaza lawn at the main entrance, the little pasture, the red panda exhibit, the wolf exhibit...

They all started construction simultaneously, showing a great bustle of activity.

The employees were dumbfounded, wondering what the zoo was going to turn into.

While marveling that the director was wealthy and capricious, they also felt a faint anticipation for the zoo's future.

Since construction had begun, the recruitment of staff also needed to be expedited.

Primarily animal keepers and veterinarians!

Especially veterinarians, as currently there was a vacancy.

The former veterinarian of the zoo, although experienced, was subpar; he spent his days playing cards in the office and had a falling out with the previous owner after failing to properly treat a sick macaque, leading to his voluntary resignation.

Fang Ye had already posted the zoo's recruitment information on a dedicated job site, and over the past few days, more than thirty people had sent their resumes.

Those who seemed acceptable from their resumes were scheduled to come to the zoo for an interview today.

There was a knock at the office door.

"Hello, I'm here for the interview!"

"Please, come in!"

The first to come for the interview was a girl dressed in a form-fitting trench coat and shorts, wearing thigh-high boots, with her hair dyed a lovely warm brown color. Her eyes were brimming with confidence—she looked very cool.

"You are..."

"Lin Ying."

The girl smiled and handed over her resume, then sat down across from him.

Upon hearing her name, Fang Ye knew, she was here to apply for the veterinarian position.

Lin Ying had majored in veterinary medicine; a proper professional education, and after graduating, she had worked at a pet hospital.

Fang Ye casually set the resume aside and asked, "Let's just chat casually, can you introduce yourself a bit? Veterinary medicine is quite a niche field, why did you choose to study it in the first place?"

Lin Ying apparently had a story to tell and remembered this part of her life very clearly, "Actually, I didn't know about the veterinary medicine major at first. I only discovered it when I was applying for universities and choosing my major. I was so delighted at the time, I couldn't believe there was such a great major!

I've always liked small animals, you know, cats and dogs, but my family wouldn't allow me to keep any at home, fearing they would distract me from my studies. Choosing veterinary medicine meant I could get close to animals, which I thought was wonderful.

My parents didn't understand the major and were worried about job prospects, but they reluctantly agreed since I liked it. My other relatives were more annoying, though. My aunt found out I chose veterinary medicine and looked at me as if to say, 'Are you sick?' She outright urged me to change majors, which really upset me.

What's wrong with veterinary medicine? The less they believed in me, the more I wanted to excel in it. I wanted to do what I loved."

Fang Ye couldn't help but laugh, because when Lin Ying talked about her aunt, she wrinkled her nose dismissively, mimicking with a lot of spirit, and spoke with enthusiasm about doing what she loved.

It was clear that she was straightforward and tenacious, and that she loved animals very much.

"Indeed, I see your university grades were excellent," Fang Ye continued, "But you used to work in a pet hospital—what made you leave that job?"

As soon as this was mentioned, Lin Ying's expression turned sour, and she looked indignant, "I just couldn't stand it at that pet hospital anymore! There was this sleazy and clueless male doctor who kept harassing me, sending me cringeworthy pick-up lines, WD..."

That's also not the worst of it! To make more money, they would always recommend unnecessary vaccines and injections for pets, which are useless and can even harm the pets!

I told the customers, and as a result, the boss warned me to keep my mouth shut or else he'd dock my pay. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I quit!"

Then he laughed heartily again, "Before I left, I gathered evidence of them prescribing random shots to pets and sent a report to the business bureau, and another one to the pet hospital's customer group. The group blew up, and then I got kicked out, haha, how exhilarating!"

Fang Ye was dumbfounded by what he heard, "You're really something else!"

Switching to another zoo would probably scare them off from hiring you.

The quality of zoos on Blue Planet isn't great, and there are very few that do right by animal welfare. If Lin Ying thought the animals were being treated poorly and voiced her concerns, but the zoo had no plans to improve, she might just jot down all the darkness in her little notebook and stab it at the media, which is very much in her character.

However, for Fang Ye, she's exactly the kind of person he needed!

Ambitious, a lover of animals, responsible.

"Thank you, it's indeed quite satisfying," Fang Ye sincerely said. He reached out his hand, "Welcome to Linhai Zoo! Our new exhibits are under construction, and I believe you'll witness this place become an ideal animal paradise. The animals' health from now on will be in your hands."

Lin Ying shook his hand with a hearty laugh, "Yeah, I believe it! Actually, I looked up Linhai Zoo online before I submitted my application and saw the video of you urinating a white tiger. I thought that with a zookeeper who's that gentle and fond of animals, the zoo couldn't be bad."

Fang Ye couldn't help but smile at the comment, "Please, you're the most outstanding candidate we've had so far."

He briefly introduced her to the zoo veterinarian's work and living conditions.

After listening attentively, Lin Ying said she needed to go back and pack some stuff and would come over tomorrow, then they exchanged WeChat contacts and she left.

After a while, another knock came, "Hello, I'm here for the interview!"

"Come in!"

The newcomer was a young lad, dressed in a clean T-shirt with a buzz cut, looking a bit nervous and not quite comfortable with the situation but standing upright.

Fang Ye said, "Could you introduce yourself?"

"Yes! My name is Wang Jun, I was just discharged from the military and am applying for a security position!"

The requirements for a security guard are straightforward: good physical condition and upright character. For a young man just out of the military, that was certainly not a problem.

He interviewed eight people one after another.

Afterward, things didn't go as smoothly as at the start, with a few candidates Fang Ye found unsatisfactory and passed on. He was rather picky about animal keepers and only hired one new person.

"Hello, I..."

"Please, come in!"

A big fellow cautiously ducked his head and bent slightly as he walked through the door.

"Damn!" Fang Ye's eyes widened, and he inwardly exclaimed, "Muscle monster!"

The big guy was two meters tall with incredibly developed muscles, broad and robust, his arms looking thicker than his thighs.

If the zoo didn't have grizzly bears, he would have thought a bear had taken human form.

He took a sip of water from his cup, trying to calm himself down, "Applying for a security position?"

The muscle monster grinned, showing his teeth, "No, applying for an animal keeper position."

"Pfft!"

Fang Ye spat out a mouthful of water.
