Chapter 476: Guan Yin
Chapter 476: Guan Yin
A big celebration was being prepared to announce Guan Yin as the new ruler of the capital kingdom of the East. The name of the kingdom was also going to be announced by then.
"How do I look?" Guan Yin asked Elliot as she spun to show off her beautiful fitted armor. It was styled like the Western armor underneath a fitted pair if Eastern traditional clothing.
On her torso was a rectangular sleeved polo that reached past her fingers. It was paired with a golden chest plate that accentuated her slim and hourglass figure with a sun shaped crest on her chest.
She also wore a pair of skin tight leather pants that she paired with a yellow mini-skirt that had a checkered pattern. The pants was paired with an iron boots that was enchanted by Angin so it would be light that it wouldn't restrict Guan Yin's movements.
"She looks like she would deal with those council members' bullsh*t," Ed joked. "But with violence."
"Agree," Connor said, stunned by the woman's beauty. "She could catch their attention and then kill them when she gets the chance."
"You should still remember that I could do the same to you," Guan Yin smirked, raising her kris which was a sword with a waved blade. "But I'm just kidding. You're too strong for me."
"I think you're ready," Junko said while she stood on the doorway. "Let's go."
Meirong walked inside the room where Guan Yin was. "Please give us five minutes. I want to talk to Guan Yin first."
"Okay," Junko said. "But you have to come out soon. We don't want to be late on such an important occasion."
"Right," Meirong nodded and waited until it was only her and Guan Yin inside the room. She sat on the bed and tapped the space next to her.
Guan Yin cleared her throat and walked up to Meirong. "What is it?"
"You know," Meirong smiled, running her hand through Guan Yin's long hair. The latter had always had long hair that she kept in a bun. This was the first time that she didn't tie it as a symbol of her femininity.
Both the men and women in their kingdom mostly had long hair. It wasn't rare for that to happen, but there were different types of hair for different sexes. The male had long but dry-looking hair but the female had silky smooth hair.
The female would always have eyes on them due to the fact that their hair shines in the sunlight, this was seen as a weakness for them. It was concluded that their beauty does not belong in any position in the higher offices or even in battle.
This was why the female was oppressed for centuries, the men wanted them as trophies instead.
"But little by little," Meirong continued. "You are challenging this belief, this sick culture that we have."
"I just think that it's quite funny how I'm the first person to do so," Guan Yin sighed. "For millenia, there are a lot of women but nobody ever tried to stand up to the men?"
Meirong chuckled and lifted her sleeve. Guan Yin gasped at the sight. There were scars and faded wounds all over her arms, making the latter look at her in the eyes. "What happened?"
"I was one of those who have been oppressed when I tried to challenge the norms," Meirong sighed. "When we are seen as nothing but mere factories for babies and trophies to show off, there were a lot of us that tried to fight back. It just so happens that not all of us were as powerful and as influential as you."
"Influential?" Guan Yin tilted her head. "No, my name wasn't even in the family records. I fought back as much as everyone else? No, you were all cowards. You didn't try to fight, you let them overpower you. I pretended to be a man all my life so I could reach here, in this state. Not because of my family, not because of some fate, I worked my butt off every single day."
The room was silent for a couple of seconds. Meirong couldn't find the words to speak. She was left speechless, realizing her own faults. "I am so sorry, Guan Yin. It must've been so rough on you."
"It's fine," Guan Yin sighed. "And I'm sorru for lashing out like that. I'm just so pressured about all of this."
"Come here," Meirong went behind Guan Yin and tied her hair. "You need to show dominance over them, so I thinkt his would be a good idea. Show them what we got."
Guan Yin smiled. "I will."
"Where is the new ruler?"
"It's been over an hour. Should swe still wait?"
"How long do we have to stand here?"
The crowd had started to create a commotion. They have been waiting for so long that they felt like Guan Yin would never show up.
Some of them started to get irritated and are planning on starting a rally if they would continue to wait. It took five more minutes before Guan Yin walked in front of them, standing in front of the wooden platform.
"Good morning, everyone," Guan Yin greeted.
"Why do we have a hostess? We want Guan Yin!" one man shouted from the crowd.
"Yeah!" another added. "We want the ruler called Guan Yin! If the Westerners think 'he' is the ruler that could lead us, then we want ro see 'him' and hear 'his' words."
Guan Yin tried to open her mouth, but another one was still yelling. "Where is 'he'?!"
The man threw a rock at Guan Yin to which the woman blocked with her sword effortlessly. This made everyone gasp, seeing as Guan Yin took an offensive form and looked like she was about to attack.
The woman walked at the edge of the wooden stage, right in front of the people. She glanced to the right and saw Meirong there, smiling at her.
Guan Yin took a deep breath before taking the tie off of her hair, revealing her long shiny black hair that flowed through the wind.
"It is I!" she yelled. "I am Guan Yin!"
