Chapter 115: The Chaotic Hunting Team

Led by Little Green, Charles quickly arrived at the recruitment spot for the hunting team.

In charge of recruitment here was a guard from the Serpent Empire.

In front of Charles, there were several people standing in line.

"Let's wait here patiently for a bit. It might take a while before it's our turn to register." Charles said.

Just as Charles finished speaking, the voice of the Serpent Empire guard came from the front.

"Are you two here to register for the hunting team? If so, please step forward promptly. If not, kindly refrain from causing any disruption here."

Charles turned to look ahead and suddenly noticed that the people in front had already left with a registration form in hand.

Charles approached the guards of the Serpent Empire.

The Serpent Empire guard nonchalantly handed a form to Charles.

"Fill out your basic information. Once you're done, take this form to the camp outside the town. The head of the hunting team will assign you tasks there."

After saying this, the guard of the Serpent Empire gestured for Charles to leave.

Holding the form, Charles, accompanied by Little Green, proceeded towards the camp outside the small town.

During the journey, Charles made it a point to carefully examine the form in his hand.

The form required an extensive amount of information to be filled out, although only a few sections were marked as mandatory.

Among the mandatory information were his name, his level of strength, and the weapons he possessed.

After some contemplation, Charles decided to fill in the name section with his alias, Richard.

For strength, he filled in the power level of his fabricated persona, which was mid-tier level two.

For weapons, Charles simply wrote down "Scorpion Tail of Venom."

Little Green also filled out her form quickly.

However, Little Green used her real name on the form. She also marked her strength as level four.

"Your level four strength might be the best in the entire hunting team. I'll definitely need your protection during the hunt."

Charles, with a warm smile on his face, addressed Little Green.

Little Green nodded emphatically in response.

"Don't worry, Master. No matter what danger we encounter, I'll ensure your safety!"

Chatting as they walked, the two of them finally reached the hunting team's camp outside the town after about half an hour.

However, the moment Charles saw the camp, his expression turned very disappointed.

The entire hunting team's camp was extremely chaotic, with almost no order. Serpent Empire guards roamed around, and some people who looked very weak were setting up new tents on the outskirts of the camp.

Charles looked around for a while but couldn't find anyone to receive them.

Just as Charles was hesitating, a guard from the Serpent Empire began to approach him.

"You two must be looking to join the Hunting Team as well, right?"

Charles nodded in agreement.

"Since that's the case, you two should go ahead and set up your tent here. It's getting late, and the hunting team won't be going out to hunt today."

"The hunting team leader plans to take you out hunting tomorrow morning. However, none of you are allowed to leave the camp too far tonight."

"If you wander too far from the camp, the leader won't recognize you as part of the hunting team when we head out tomorrow."

Said the Serpent Empire guard, leaving Charles slightly puzzled but willing to comply.

"We don't have a tent. Where should we get one?"

Standing next to Charles, Little Green directly posed a question to the guard from the Serpent Empire.

The expression on the guard's face from the Serpent Empire revealed a hint of impatience.

"Are you really here to join the hunt? If you're here to hunt, why didn't you bring a tent? Do you think we provide tents?" the guard questioned.

"Of course, you are the official forces of the trade town, aren't you? If you don't provide tents, why would you ask us to join the hunt?"

Charles asked the Serpent Empire guard without hesitation.

The guard chuckled, "The reason we let you join the hunt is that you can attract the attention of the prey. This way, our elite hunters can hunt more monsters."

Though the guard didn't reveal the whole truth.

His words strongly hinted at their real intentions.

Charles nodded, "I understand. Just provide us with a tent. We'll stay around the camp tonight and join you for the hunt tomorrow morning."

The Serpent Empire guard's expression turned slightly puzzled upon hearing Charles's response.

Under normal circumstances, when the Serpent Empire guard mentioned what he just said, the majority of participants would choose to leave.

After all, no one would willingly become a meaningless sacrifice.

"Are you really not planning to back out?" the Serpent Empire guard asked Charles again.

Charles shook his head and replied with even more determination in his voice.

"Since we've come this far, we must participate in the hunt. I believe our skills are formidable enough to succeed."

The Serpent Empire guard nodded, his eyes reflecting a significantly different impression of Charles than before.

In the eyes of the Serpent Empire guard, Charles was either exceptionally capable or an absolute madman.

"Very well, I will provide you with a tent. However, I will not supply you with any food, as the hunting team's provisions are extremely limited."

The Serpent Empire guard remarked before walking away.

After a short while, a raggedly dressed child appeared before Charles and his companions, carrying a tent.

"This tent is for you. The master said he has high hopes for you. He expects you to amaze him in tomorrow's hunt." the child conveyed.

Little Green took the tent, and Charles, with a smile on his face, addressed the child.

"Go back and tell your master that I will surely demonstrate my true capabilities in tomorrow's hunt." Charles stated confidently. The child earnestly memorized the message and then turned to leave.

As Charles spoke, Little Green had already set up the tent with remarkable speed.

"Master, I have set up the tent. If you wish to rest, you may do so at any time." Little Green informed respectfully.

Charles did not immediately opt for a rest.

He merely cast his gaze towards Little Green and, with a smile on his face, proceeded to ask.

"Do you think we should reveal our true strength in tomorrow's battle?"

Little Green hesitated for a moment.

"Master, I believe we do not need to display our full power. The strength we have already shown them is superior to everyone else's.

Tomorrow, we only need to use a fraction of our abilities to earn their respect. Moreover, if we reveal all our strength now and encounter unforeseen circumstances later, it will be challenging for us to manage." Little Green explained thoughtfully

Charles nodded with a smile.

"You are absolutely right. Your thoughts align perfectly with mine. After such extensive training, you have indeed made significant progress." he remarked.

Upon hearing Charles' praise, a faint smile appeared on Little Green's face.

"Master, I will continue to strive diligently. I will never disappoint you." Little Green vowed earnestly.

After conversing for a while longer, the two decided to rest inside the tent.

Not far from them, at the very heart of the hunting team's camp, the leader of the hunting party was deep in discussion with his two assistants about the strategy for the next day's hunt.

"Captain, hunting tomorrow is exceedingly dangerous. The number of monsters gathering around the town is overwhelming. Could we not wait until some of them disperse before we proceed with the hunt?"

One of the captain's assistants complained.

The captain of the hunting party sighed deeply, "I wish we could do that, but it's simply not possible. General Zarathustra is already extremely angered. If I delay the hunt any further, General Zarathustra will be furious beyond measure.

Do you really want to face General Zarathustra's wrath? No one can escape unscathed when confronted with General Zarathustra's fury."

After the captain finished speaking, the atmosphere in the ornate tent became somewhat oppressive.

One of the captain's other assistants decided to say something to lighten the heavy mood.

"Although tomorrow's operation is fraught with danger, we have spent the past two days gathering enough bait. We can send out those with less strength first, allowing them to lure all the monsters. While the creatures are preoccupied with feeding, we can then eliminate them all. This significantly increases our chances of a successful hunt." the assistant suggested.

The captain nodded in agreement.

"Our plan for tomorrow must succeed because after tomorrow's hunt, we might not be able to recruit anyone willing to join our hunting party again." the captain stated with a somber tone.

The captain was acutely aware that tomorrow's hunt would undoubtedly result in the sacrifice of many newly recruited members. This harsh reality might deter anyone from daring to join the hunting party in the future.
