Infinite Potential System

Chapter 336: The Velos Continent

"So which batch of Cultivators do you prefer I kill? Are there any troublesome ones that deserve to die?" William asked the old man in front of him.

"Kill the Trial takers? Oh, no. Since you've become so powerful, I hope you don't mind helping me retrieve something." Riyald replied with a smile.

What could Master Riyald possibly need me to get? He just went out...

"Does it involve anything forbidden? I'd rather not paint myself as a criminal even if I can get away with it."

In reality, William didn't want to risk losing more Humanity than he already had. His emotions were already running rampant, making him want to give in to his selfish desires and let go. A certain part of him even said this was fine, that killing any annoying fly that dared to get in his way was alright.

If they deserve it, sure, but not to any random person I meet on the street, not like when I killed a guard by mistake in Blue Moon City.

"Forbidden? Not this time. An old friend of mine once betrayed me in an Ancient Ruin and ran off with a much more efficient Soul Cultivation Technique that we had earned together. I just need your help to take the Technique back." Riyald replied as if it was just a simple task.

"No problem. Where can I find this person? And how can I identify him?"

"He's in the Velos Continent. You can find it if you go directly East past a small island chain in the Far East Mistlands. You'll know it when you see it, because the water is murky green and the Continent is contaminated with dangerous toxins." He pulled out a small holographic map that showed Efretta as a globe, pointing out the Velos Continent amongst the group.

He continued, "If you want to find him, his name is Marcus Rednel. I've been keeping tabs on him, but he's too powerful to confront myself. He wears a bright orange cloak, and uses both the Darkness and Sound Elements, which make him very tricky to detect."

"Too powerful for you? But didn't you defeat the dragons of the Dragon Continent? How can you be weak?" William asked.

"Hahaha, that was a long time ago, and I had some special treasures that helped me during the battle. Not to mention..." he leaned in close to whisper to William, "I kinda cheated."

"Cheated?" William asked. How could someone cheat in a battle against dragons? First of all, it was shameless, but second of all, how could they not notice?

"Shh, not so loud! The dragon that was supposed to battle with me was restricted by a series of Arrays I had hidden underground beforehand. Dragons always allow the challenged to pick the battlefield, so I tricked one of the strongest dragons around into challenging me so I could pick the location."

William's eyes opened wide. "That's basically suicide! Your combat strength is only in the second or third level of the Tribulation Transcendence Realm, you must've been a brand new Tribulation Cultivator at the time!"

Riyald nodded with a goofy smile, "I'm pretty smart sometimes."

William nodded, "Speaking of what you said earlier, why are there so many Darkness Mages at the peak of the World? That Master Black from Retribution is one, this guy, and even a few Soul Formation Cultivators among the Pillars of Justice.

I've even read that the leader of the Thieves' Guild has a Darkness Domain. Wouldn't it make sense for the Mages with Basic Elements to be more common?"

"Well, Darkness Magic has very good survivability. You should know this. Most people that wield the Darkness Element can escape tricky situations in a flash. It's not unnatural.

We're getting off track. Do you think you can recover this Technique for me? I'll even share the contents with you. It would be a huge help." Riyald looked at William with somewhat pleading eyes.

William shrugged, "Sure."

Almost nothing about the deal was bad for him. He was going to explore the Velos Continent anyway, and Riyald's Quest aligned with his interests. If he managed to actually find this Marcus Rednel person, he might even gain a more powerful Soul Cultivation Technique!

It's just what I needed, especially after the Order Element's backlash. I can't let that happen again.

William could always create his own Soul Cultivation Technique, but he had little knowledge of Soul Cultivation other than what Riyald taught him. It might take decades to come up with something suitable, which was a stark contrast from the Spirit Qi Cultivation Techniques.

"Is there anything else?" he asked.

"Oh. Now that you mention it. Since you'll be in the Velos Continent anyway, why don't you go and see my old Alchemist friend? He's from the Velos Royal Family, but I think he would agree to meet with you if you asked nicely."

"You have an Alchemist friend too?" William was surprised with the man's connections. "Do I have to fight this one too?"

"No no, not at all. He's an actual friend. He even refined the Tier 10 Blood Refinement Pills that I gave to you as a reward. He might have a few interesting ingredients to provide you for your... condition." he looked at William's body that was self-restricted by the Seal Element.

"Are you saying he might be able to suppress me even further than I am now? That must be impossible!" William replied, though the Alchemy Talent sent some bits of information that suggested the old man might not be lying.

"What's the harm in trying? Just go see him, his name's Rudeus Velos, and he's both a kind soul and a great Alchemist."

William agreed. Another thing to add to the list of things to do. "So I need to take back the Soul Cultivation Technique from Marcus Rednel and meet with Rudeus Velos for help with suppressing my body further..."

System, why haven't you issued a Quest for these things yet?

-Must I always issue you a Quest? You're going to do it anyway.

Well, it would help.

-Now that you said something, I think I won't. Remember, you still need to earn your worth.

Oh, come on System. I'm still not worthy after everything I've done so far?

-I'll think about it when you've survived your Ascension.

How can an Ascension Tribulation stop me? You should know my Talents better than I do.

-I'm not talking about the Tribulation. Where do you think people go when they Ascend?

They just randomly appear in the next Realm, right?

-How can randomness truly exist?

William fell silent, deep in thought about the System's words. If he even had to watch his back after Ascending, there was quite a bit of preparation he still needed to do.

But if I can meet with this Alchemist, perhaps I can suppress myself enough to Ascend with both my body and Cultivation? And with the Soul Cultivation Technique, could I go for all three?

William became excited just thinking about it. His loot goblin tendencies were temporarily shelved by the intense desire to reach the absolute peak of existence. To become an unstoppable being that wouldn't have to worry about being taken advantage of.

A triple Ascension, all in one!
