Infinite Potential System

Chapter 346: Backed Into A Corner

"Riyald Triberium... I didn't think I'd hear that name for a long time..." Marcus reminisced on his thoughts.

"Are you Marcus Rednel then...?" William didn't want to assume before based on the first name alone, but he had a sneaking suspicion that this was the person they were looking for, although he looked much differently than Riyald described.

He doesn't have an orange cloak, and I can't tell which Elemental Affinities he has. Not to mention he's in the Soul Formation Realm. I guess there's only one way to find out.

William's Sealing Territory was still open from immobilizing the guards, so he controlled the Sealing Mana to gather towards Marcus, who seemed oblivious to the attack.

Just before the Sealing Mana wrapped around Marcus' body, his body vibrated and the Seal Mana went through him harmlessly while he strode forward with a calm smile.

"Your Magic is many times more powerful than mine... but I have lived a very long time. It's because of your Seal Element that I was sent after you, but who would have known that you are also looking for me!" Marcus replied as he retrieved an orange cloak from his Space Ring and wrapped it around himself.

With the orange cloak, Marcus held onto two pink rings that didn't seem to serve as Space Rings, he concealed them quickly, but William still noticed and opened the Space Domain in advance just in case so the man couldn't take out anything else.

The moment the orange cloak touched Marcus' body, his aura was elevated to the peak of the Tribulation Transcendence Realm. Additionally, his Mana fluctuations became unstable in the same way that William's Mana did when he upgraded an Elemental Affinity to the next Rank.

Did both his Cultivation and Magic just progress? But how? William wondered.

Marcus saw William's look and smirked, "I told you I've lived a long time, but that doesn't mean I'll give away my secrets easily! I knew that Riyald would send someone after me eventually, but he's a fool to think some kids can take me down after I've come so far!"

My Sealing Territory doesn't work, so I need to suppress him in another way. The Soul Cultivation Technique is in his mind, but I don't have a way to break through...

-You can search his memories with a successful mental invasion.

I know that, but he's been using that Soul Cultivation Technique for who knows how long, which hones your mental power immensely. I don't stand a chance; I need him to tell me on his own.

William tried the Sealing Territory again, but the result was the same. Marcus Rednel phased through the Mana as if it didn't exist at all, which didn't make any sense considering William had the X-Rank Element.

William evaluated his opponent whose strength clearly exceeded that of his previous opponents. He uses the Darkness and Sound Elements, right? Are they repelling the Seal Mana or something? There's only one way to find out.

He opened the Reversed Domains of Darkness and Sound at the same time, removing the use of both Elements in a large radius, while Marcus' face showed traces of anxiety. When William used the Seal Element this time, Marcus retreated through the air swiftly, not allowing the Mana to get close at all.

That's it! Something about his Elements was countering the Territory. William smiled as he quickly gained the upper hand. Marcus may be witty and have some unique abilities, but William has the System by his side!

Still, the Seal Element is one of the slowest Elements and couldn't reach Marcus in a short amount of time. William opened the Gravity and Time Domains to slow Marcus down as much as possible, then successfully sealed him with the Sealing Territory.

It was all done in one quick exchange, not even granting Marcus a chance to defend himself. Other than the initial surprise, William was much too powerful to be threatened by anyone in the lower Realm at this point.

"Y-You... how could you figure it out so quickly?" Marcus stammered as he tried to resist the Sealing Territory. The only reason he was able to talk was because William allowed him to, otherwise he wouldn't even be able to do that.

"I just guessed, that's all." William smiled.

"T-That Riyald! He must have told you! How did he find out how I use those Elements?" Marcus scowled as he realized his old friend must have sold him out. Little did he know that William just countered everything about Darkness and Sound Magic and wasn't specifically targeting the old man's unique Spell.

"Are you going to hand over the Soul Cultivation Technique now?" William asked. Other Soul Formation Cultivators and even the Patriarch from the Revista palace were already headed in his direction, but he didn't care about them and spoke calmly to Marcus as if he was having a simple chat.

"Never!" the old man closed his lips after speaking.

"Never? You don't even value your life that you've come so far to maintain? You're eleven thousand years old now, does that mean nothing at this point? Why not just give up a copy of the Technique and we'll be on our way?" William asked again.

In his opinion, the request was more than reasonable. Marcus had already lost, so what was the big deal with giving up such a Soul Cultivation Technique? Was it really that difficult and powerful?

William received his response in the form of an unspeakably powerful mental attack that shattered his defenses like paper and almost knocked him unconscious in an instant. He had been prepared for it the entire time, but William still faltered and took a few steps back to recover.

The Sealing Territory fell apart and both the guards and Marcus broke free, but William regained his bearings relatively quickly with the Mind Talent. Even if his Soul Strength wasn't impressive, his Mind Talent allowed him to stay conscious no matter what, while reinforcing his mind to withstand even the most powerful attacks.

I'm lucky he didn't press further and only wanted to disrupt my Seal Territory. That was dangerous. William thought as he tried to mobilize the Seal Territory again.

"Hahaha not this time!" Marcus laughed maniacally as he put both of the pink rings he had been hiding on his fingers, his aura spiking once more. His Cultivation was pushed upwards, further and further until it had completely surpassed the Tribulation Transcendence Realm.

He hadn't Ascended yet, but Marcus had become an Ascension Realm Cultivator! His aura was intense, overbearing, and noble, while his old age made him look like he was in his sixties rather than appearing well past a hundred years.

The Heavens reacted at this moment, while the World sensed that this person didn't belong to this World. A golden portal opened in the sky not just inviting him upward but forcing him to do so. Marcus didn't have the ability to remain on Efretta like William did, but he only resisted slightly, slowing down the speed of his Ascent into the sky.

"I've been sealing my Cultivation inside these Artifacts for thousands of years, and now that you've pushed me so far, you're going to be the first to experience it!"
