Chapter 509: - They’ve allied themselves with demons
Amidst the dense forest, a deafening explosion shattered the silence, sending shockwaves through the trees. A towering figure rose-a monstrous creature made entirely of wood, standing nearly three meters (9.8 feet) tall. Its gnarled branches twisted and contorted as it emerged.
[Elite Tree Stalker Lv. 239]
Perched between the thick, twisted limbs of the tree monster was Morel, the Faery Knight Commander.
"He will not leave this forest alive," Morel declared.
He issued his command, the sound of his voice filling the ears of every faery present.
"Attack the human from all sides. Surround him, give him no chance to escape. This forest is our domain. We reign here, and it would be foolish for any human to believe they can flee from us."
Morel's expression hardened. "The beasts I've summoned will show them just how powerful the Moonlight Fae Knight Commander truly is."
With a nod, the faeries fanned out, swiftly moving through the trees, intent on surrounding Broken. Their resolve was unwavering-they were not only protecting their territory but their tribe, their Tribe Leader, Elaine.
"I never thought humans could be this cunning. They seemed so kind, but they killed one of our knights in cold blood," one faery muttered.
"I thought that girl, Ivana, was different. But she was just like the rest, pretending to be kind while hiding their true intentions."
"Humans can't be trusted. I regret ever thinking they could be our allies."
"We have to protect each other. We must kill them. If we don't, they will return with reinforcements and attack us."
"Whatever it takes. We will finish this mission, no matter the cost."
"We cannot allow them to escape this forest!"
The faeries moved in perfect unison, swiftly closing in on Broken and Ivana, their familiarity with the forest giving them a distinct advantage. No matter which direction the pair ran, there were faeries waiting, prepared to cut off any possible escape route. This was their home, and they would not let their quarry slip away without a fight.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Broken and Ivana rode on Petal Charger, the horse galloping swiftly through the dense forest, its hooves pounding against the ground as they raced against time. Desperation fueled their every movement, the shadows of the forest closing in around them as the faeries pursued.
"I only have thirty minutes left!" Broken curses. "We need to keep moving and avoid any fights, Ivana. I won't leave you behind in this forest."
Ivana, holding on tightly, "I'll survive, Broken!"
The forest loomed large ahead, and every second counted as they continued their desperate flight, knowing the faeries wouldn't stop until they were caught.
But soon, their frantic escape came to an abrupt halt. A group of faeries materialized in front of them, blocking their path. Morel stood among them.
"Why are you running so quickly, human?" Morel sneered. "Won't you play with my pet here? They loves crushing human bones."
Broken clenched his fists. "I guess I don't have a choice!"
He turned to Ivana. "We must finish them all in less than ten minutes," he said firmly. "If not, I'll be forced to log out, and you'll be left here alone without me."
They had to fight, and they had to win quickly-there was no room for hesitation.
The faeries surrounding Broken and Ivana readied their bows, arrows notched, and magic crackling in the air, prepared to unleash an onslaught. They had the upper hand, positioning themselves strategically in every direction, making it nearly impossible for Broken and Ivana to fight back effectively.
"Ivana, we will strike together. Focus on the weakest line first and break through!"
Though his mana reserves were depleted, leaving him unable to cast any wide-area attack spells or summon Gaia beasts, Broken was determined. He needed to fight his way through and find an opening for their escape. He was out of options, but giving up wasn't one of them. "I'll do my best to protect you, Broken. You attack, and I'll cover your blind spots." Without hesitation, Broken dashed toward the faeries. Arrows and magical spheres rained down on them in response, but Broken was undeterred.
[Summon the Guardian (Active Skill)]
In a burst of energy, Broken summoned Dendros to help them weather the storm of attacks. Water spears descended from the sky as Broken wielded his Wavebreaker Spear, sending the faeries scrambling to dodge the area of effect.
But as he fought through the chaos, frustration gnawed at him. "Damn, they're stalling for time!"
The faeries were clearly dragging out the fight, trying to weaken him further, knowing his resources were running low.
Ivana stayed close by his side, skillfully blocking incoming attacks and ensuring Broken had the space to keep pressing forward. Their situation was dire, but they fought with everything they had, desperate to break free of the faery trap closing in around them.
The giant tree monster, under Morel's command, rapidly extended its large limbs. From every direction, thick tree branches lunged at Broken and Ivana, attempting to ensnare them.
The faeries continued their assault from a distance, using long-range attacks to harass them, while Broken and Ivana struggled to fend off the relentless barrage. Every time they managed to close in on the faeries, the enemies would retreat, maintaining their distance and keeping
the advantage.
"I can't believe they know I'm running out of time!" Broken said through gritted teeth. "This is why I hate the Immortal Legacy's rules; they're torturous."
His time was running out-fast. "I only have five minutes left!" Broken added desperately, This grip tightening on Ivana's wrist as he surveyed the battlefield.
They had been fighting tirelessly, doing their best to inflict even the slightest damage on the faeries, but the progress was painfully slow. Every move they made was countered by the enemy's evasive tactics, leaving them in a frustrating stalemate.
"This is so annoying." Time was slipping away, and the sense of urgency only grew as he realized they were trapped in a losing battle with no way out in sight.
"Broken, I don't want you to suffer because of me. I can protect myself. Don't worry."
"No, Ivana. We still have enough time. We need to keep pushing and try to take out at least half of them before I log out completely."
"Yes."
"Now, let's summon Blaze and Flare and force our way through their defenses."
Without wasting a second, they summoned the two Demon Beasts, Blaze and Flare-skeletal horses wreathed in flames. The ground beneath them sizzled as the fire beasts materialized. Broken and Ivana swiftly mounted them.
The sight of the Demon Beasts sent shockwaves through the faeries.
"That's... Demon Beasts!"
"How can they command such creatures?"
The sight only fueled Morel's anger further. His face twisted in rage.
"They've allied themselves with demons! They came here to destroy us from the start! If we
don't kill them now, they'll return with a full army of demons!"
As Blaze and Flare burst into motion, the ground beneath them ignited. Flames trailed behind them as they galloped with incredible speed, burning through the faeries' defenses.
But the faeries weren't about to let them go so easily. Even as one line fell, more faeries rushed in to regroup and block their path again, determined to stop them at all costs.
