Chapter 383 Royal Guard Trial
Chapter 383 Royal Guard Trial
The revitalization process lasted for two hours, and the results were great as his vitality was boosted by 23%, while all other stats increased by 12 to 14%, pushing all his base stats closer to 48K, with vitality surpassing 52k points.
The Endless Regeneration passive that he had, which healed 8K per second, now jumped to 20K per second, making any fleshy wound he received heal at a visible pace and heal him back to full health in two hundred and ten seconds.
His body fully recovered from the injuries inflicted by the elemental erosion caused by using the Monarch aura, and he also experienced significant benefits beyond the increase in stats.
After the process ended, elder Ana?lle started to recover the life bender staff while he left to hunt some strong creatures, use Devourer skill on them, and see what difference was in stats he could receive.
In the past month as a soldier, Alex had used the Devourer skill and had earned over 2k points in all stats combined, and at the rate he was progressing, he believed he could reach 60k stat points without the need for any magical treasures.
But after the revitalization process, he wanted to see if his body limits were the same as before or if they had improved, and it took just a single peak fifth-world boss monster to get the answer.
Alex was previously receiving anywhere between 100 to 250 points in all stats from a peak fifth Rank world Boss, with it mostly being to the lower end, and as he progressed, that number was decreasing ever so slightly.
But now he received 210 overall points, which was close to 30% more than he had expected, and the same happened after he hunted down multiple common Fifth Rank creatures.
Alex was happy with the lucky windfall as he now expected to reach 80k to 85k base stat points before his Rank promotion, and that would be wonderful as now the aim of achieving stat maximization for the Elementalist Rank was looking more and more achievable.
After some testing, Alex shifted his focus to gathering the light element magical various treasures as they would be fine gifts for Venedikt, Andrei, and especially Saahira, who were spending the majority of their time in the training chamber.
Alex had told the three that they were prohibited from advancing to the Fourth Rank until they hit their physical limits and could not progress their stats by digesting the gains of magical treasures.
He was well aware that reaching the stat maximization would take more than resources, time, and willpower, but he would make sure to push them to their absolute limits irrespective of time and resources spent.
After gathering a good amount and variety of magical treasures, Alex returned to elder Ana?lle side, who gave him the restored life bender legacy staff and twenty small orbs.
The orbs would only activate when touched by someone with the elemental talent meeting the standards of the Elven Monarch or Life Guardian legacy.
Alex didn't need the orbs, but he accepted them as he couldn't just leave and come back to the hidden space after a day or two having found the perfect candidate.
Alex said his fare well to elder Ana?lle, thanked her for the opportunity and left the place after marking the outside with a temporal mark so he could return in mere moments when needed.
After Alex left the area, he decided to return to Malefis Domain to drop off the individuals who were healed from the devourer curse and pick new ones.
----------------
After returning to the elven continent, Alex used the royal badge given by Xylena to take the royal guard trial, and after some simple checks to make sure where his loyalty lies, he was allowed into the royal testing ground.
The royal testing group was a training chamber with multiple stages, with each stage having its score system, with the top hundred being proudly etched on the massive holographic screens outside the chamber.
An individual needed to go through three tests and achieve a certain number of points to become a Recruit Royal Guard, with those tests being the trial of strength, willpower, and, finally, the trial of judgment.
After an individual was recruited, a thorough background check would be done on the individual to see his heritage and history, his and his entire lineage, and if one failed, they would be laid off.
Alex was destined to be laid off because of his nonexistent past, but he planned to score so well that the elves would want to spend a few weeks before making their decision, giving him enough time to find the Human Emperor.
In the first trial, the challenger needed to survive as long as he could, as waves upon waves of battle puppets attacked him, with the battle puppets starting at a minor stage higher than the challenger and increasing every other milestone with the peak of the next Rank as the limit.
Alex registered as a peak fifth Rank, which was the minimum strength requirement to become a Royal guard, so the battle puppets he fought started from early Sixth Rank.
The first wave had ten strength puppets attacking him head-on, with each giving him ten points, and with every passing minute, the number of puppets doubled on the third raid, with the addition of three middle stage Sixth Rank battle puppets, each worth a hundred points and with the number increasing by one with every next raid.
On the sixth wave, one peak Sixth Rank battle puppet was added to the mix, worth a thousand points, and by now, puppets were coming in various varieties, with their being silent and quick assassins, towering tanks, knights in full armor, Archers and so on.
On the night wave, Alex was using Ruler Pride, Dragon Might, and Mana Amplification, going on a tear as he ripped through the puppets, enjoying the thrill of pushing his physical, mental, and elemental limits.
Alex broke the surrender badge when the thirteenth wave ended not because he was being overwhelmed, as even though the battle puppets were strong, they were nothing compared to a trained warrior, but he did so because he had earned around 12300 points.
Alex was certain even if he performed average in the following two trials, he would easily earn over twenty thousand points, which was enough to put him in the top hundred.
It was very rare for someone to enter the top hundred ranking as it contained all the genius elves since the creation of these training and testing grounds, so it was very rare for someone to take his place among them.
Alex wanted to become famous through his show of strength, use his fame to get information about the Emperor, and then try to get close to him by any means necessary.
The second trial was a passage of illusion that the further he walked, the harder and more agonizing the illusions became, starting from seeing a barrage of arrows thrown at him to seeing someone getting killed and that someone turned to his sister, followed by mother and father.
Alex took seventy-eight steps before, even with the eyes of the ancient active, he lost his sense of reality seeing the destructive sense of the Malefis Domain before him and franticly moved to kill the demons rampaging through the battlefield.
Alex earned 8400 points, and combined with the first trial points, they were enough to push him into the top hundred, and now, he just needed to create sure he didn't do too well on the last one because he didn't want to end up in the top fifty.
The third and final trial was the trial of judgment, where candidates were subjected to scenarios that tested their wisdom, fairness, and ability to make decisions, aligning with the profound values of the elven society or the elven royalty.
It was a trial to test an elf's loyalty to the people living under their rules, elves or not, but in essence, it was a trial meant to see their willingness to make some truly gruesome acts to protect the royal clan or at least that's what the rumors said.
Alex entered the trial, and instantly, he was engulfed in a high-level illusion, placing him in a position to make a decision, as he saw a high elf wrongfully accusing a demi-human of cursing at the royalty and wanting him detained.
Alex took action and did the right thing, and without any delay, he was sent into the next situation, followed by the third and fourth, which was finally about picking a side.
Alex was in a situation where a child of the high elder was going to be detained for killing a fellow high elf who won against him in a board war game.
He could threaten the three witnesses to resolve the situation or create them silent so the possibility of truth coming to light was erased.
Alex undertook the second route, and in the next illusion, things only got worse, and even though he had a sense of reality, he selected to expose the higher of his gruesome crime, concluding the trial.
