Chapter 200 Misunderstanding
When the flag of Yors Castle was lifted at Caprice, the bystanders started to doubt a country from the Eastern side would suddenly want to invade them.
Not to mention, there had been trading conducted every month with Yors Castle.
Hence, the possibility of Charter claiming that they are being invaded seemed highly suspicious now.
'What an unexpected move from him?' Charter clenched his fist angrily. He had heard the gunshot previously and knew it was the firearms that his dumb little brother was trying to sell off.
Thus, it meant his intention was long realized by Lei Zhen but he didn't react in any manner which caused his guard to be lowered.
And now this was the price of his action.
The Yors Castle flag was raised high up, and it was even inlaid with the golden words symbol, which meant that the ship belonged to royalties.
It was a flag that would be impossible to replicate or steal since that would be made news to their side already.
"What should we do now, Captain Charter?" One of the Athea soldiers under Charter asked nervously.
If they proceeded to bomb the ship despite the flag indication of them belonging to a friendly country, then it would have caused a huge political problem.
Not to mention, he would no longer be able to cover this matter anymore.
With a grudging expression, Charter took a deep breath before ordering the soldiers to temporarily stop their firing.
And it was a wise decision because a higher-up had arrived at the scene considering it was a big commotion, so they directly used the teleportation portal.
"What's going on here, Charter? I heard people say that you were ordering the soldiers to fire at a friendly ally of ours." A middle-aged man with a goatee beard asked angrily.
He was dressed in full military uniform with numerous badges at the top of his shoulders, indicating his achievements and honors. The imposing aura of the middle-aged man was enough to cause Charter to breathe difficulty despite his level.
Charter was showing a calm expression, but inwardly, he was sweating profusely.
The man in front of him was a legend, someone that had more fame and power than him. He was none other than Jack Scarecrow, a man that had single-handedly devastated an army of 50,000 of the opposing countries.
Jack Scarecrow narrowed his eyes when his simple question made Charter speechless.
'It seemed like I had mistaken this brat.' Jack Scarecrow thought to himself, feeling disappointed at the previous high hopes he had for Charter.
When he heard about Charter being deployed to capture his own little brother, Jack Scarecrow had high hopes of Charter remaining impartial.
However, the mess that he created now had proven him to be severely wrong.
Not only did he not plan to be impartial, but he also planned to release his little brother to escape the justice system of Athea.
This alone was enough for Jack Scarecrow to stop having any hopes for Charter. To make things worse, this incident alone could potentially spell the end of Charter's military career.
"Announce all soldiers in the operating ships to cease fire and transmit to the Yors Castle Flagship that it was a misunderstanding. Our Athea country would compensate for any damages that they have received from our soldiers' blatant attack." Jack Scarecrow floated in the air using magic and announced loudly.
With his imposing aura and loud announcement for all to hear, the firing soon ceased.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen was calmly watching the scenes unfold while enjoying a lovely non-alcoholic beverage.
"What an idiotic military man. To throw away his achievements for a dumb little brother." Lei Zhen muttered softly, hearing the loud apologetic announcement from the Athea's ships.
"What should we do, Chancellor?" Howard asked from behind with his soundless and nimble movement. His sudden appearance nearly shocked Candice as she didn't even realize when he appeared from behind.
Of course, Lei Zhen wasn't surprised by his appearance and was brooding over what to do. The options were too many to decide and each one of them was going to be beneficial to him either way.
The only problem was what type of benefits he wanted to achieve.
He might have executed Peter Heisen and his three fellow accomplices, but there would be zero charges for his crime.
After all, they are dangerous criminals at the wanted level of four stars.
He would be treated as a hero instead once news of him silencing a national traitor of Athea goes live.
"Hmm, this is quite a problem." Lei Zhen said and stood up, turning his attention to Candice.
"Say, Candice, what type of reward do you think I should receive for this "misunderstanding" of theirs?" He asked her.
Asking Howard would be a pointless matter since he had done so in the past. And what he got in response was whatever he decided, Howard would oblige to it without questions.
Hence, Lei Zhen decided to ask the newcomer for an opinion, seemingly hoping that there would be some good options to choose from a third party's perspective.
"Hmm, I suggest that they must pay for the full damages of the ship, the usage of our cannons to counter their aggression. In addition, they'll need to pay a large sum of money to us since we have been taken fright for something that we had done heroically." Candice responded after a few minutes of pondering.
The room was completely silent once she finished her sentence and Candice glanced around awkwardly, thinking that her response was dumb.

"Haha, what a great answer. Of course, they must compensate us for the emotional damage that we have received. Otherwise, how can we live past this traumatic event?" He laughed even more wildly as he quickly commanded Howard to respond back to them.
This time, he was going to make Athea bleed a ton of money and pride for employing a reckless military man, Charter Heisen.
