My Divine Pet System

Chapter 41

C41 – A Life-and-death Situation!

“This…” Liu Tuo’s brow furrowed deeply, and after a brief silence, he conceded, “Fine! But you have to promise me I’ll definitely be placed in Class B!”

“Absolutely! When have I ever gone back on my word?” Ji Buyu assured him with a confident pat on his chest.

Liu Tuo nodded and murmured, “Little Frog, take aim at that guy sitting cross-legged and hit him with a high-pressure water bomb!”

“Pfft…”

The frog spirit’s air sac slowly filled, swelling to its limit before unleashing a potent high-pressure water bomb with incredible speed, like a jet from a high-pressure hose, hurtling towards Fu Tian with the force of Wei De.

”Hongyu, watch out! Gibbs, intercept that water bomb!” Bo Miaojiao, spotting the swiftly approaching projectile, called out a loud warning.

With lightning speed, Bo Miaojiao summoned the fire spirit and launched a fierce fireball that collided head-on with the water bomb.

“Splash!”

The meeting of fire and water erupted in a hissing turmoil, the water bomb instantly dissipating into a mist that vanished into thin air.

Yet the fireball was only halved in size, the remaining portion continuing its trajectory straight at the frog spirit.

“Boom!”

The blast of intense heat overpowered the frog spirit, reducing it to specks of pale blue spiritual light that retreated back into the Grimoire of Demon Spirits.

Consequently, Liu Tuo coughed up a great deal of blood, the signs of his grave injuries unmistakable.

“That… That’s a fire spirit! How can this be?” Ji Buyu’s face was etched with horror as he stared at the fire spirit hovering in the air, incredulous.

Weren’t all the Elemental Spirits supposed to be in Class A?

Yet there it was, unmistakably an Elemental Spirit—the fire spirit—floating before them.

“Big brother, you… You said they were all Class D, right? Weren’t they supposed to be nothing more than low-level battle spirits? What’s happening here?” Liu Tuo’s confusion was evident.

The trio had agreed to help Ji Buyu mainly for a smooth entry into Class B and because they believed they were up against mere low-level battle spirit riffraff.

Both Class B and Class C comprised middle-class battle spirits, and the upcoming assessment would determine the class placements, leaving considerable room for maneuvering.

The situation had clearly spiraled beyond what they had anticipated. This was no mere group of low-level battle spirits; they were so fierce that even the senior class battle spirits might pale in comparison!

Qin Hongyu’s Serpent Spirit had swiftly eliminated two middle-class battle spirits upon encounter. And while the Tortoise Spirit lacked in offensive capabilities, its defense was formidably impenetrable.

To make matters worse, they were up against a Fire Spirit—a bona fide Elemental Spirit! Such spirits were a rarity, with only two ever seen in the entire grade. No one could have imagined another would end up in Class D!

“I… How could I possibly know! Who in the world knows what’s happening…” Ji Buyu was thoroughly bewildered.

“You’re trying to get us killed! You can have your fun alone! We’re not sticking around for this!” Pei Wencheng made up his mind in an instant, helping Xiong Xin as they prepared to beat a hasty retreat.

“Damn it! I’d rather be demoted to Class C than lose my life! Count me out!” Liu Tuo, hobbling along, quickly followed suit.

“Hey… wait up! Don’t leave me behind!”

Ji Buyu’s panic peaked as he found himself deserted by his comrades. He attempted to join their escape.

But before he could even take a step, a fiery Fire Spirit emerged, blocking his escape route.

“Mother of…!”

Startled, Ji Buyu scrambled to turn back, only to find his path obstructed by a snow-white Serpent Spirit.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
