Chapter 342: Information, Connection (2)
Yuan Rihui paused before adding, "Also, the reason the Juncheng Military Base split from the central government is because those people demanded massive amounts of supplies,
medicine, and ammunition."
Raising an eyebrow, Yao Ran asked, "Isn't there anyone in the central government who dares to oppose them?"
Yuan Rihui shook his head at her question. "Anyone who opposes them has disappeared without a trace."
When Yao Ran heard what he said, her expression darkened. She sneered inwardly, thinking, 'It seems I need to speed up the plan.'
Noticing the slight change in her expression, Yuan Rihui hesitated before advising, "Miss Yao, this organization has extensive connections and a strong background. You should stay out of this matter."
Yao Ran looked at him and saw genuine concern in his eyes. Smiling, she replied, "Don't worry. I know what I'm doing."
Seeing her confidence, Yuan Rihui said nothing further.
Glancing around the desolate market area, Yao Ran commented, "This place seems abandoned."
Yuan Rihui nodded, "The fog and the monsters have cut off supply transportation. These days, many people die from starvation and sickness. I have heard that hundreds have died because of lung disease, and thousands have turned into monsters in these few weeks."
After saying this, Yuan Rihui fell into deep thought.
He couldn't understand why he and Ling Yi had been spared from the fog's effects or the bodily deformities. As far as he knew, there were only a handful of people like them who weren't affected by the fog or radiation. But most of them were soldiers of the First Army.
While he was thinking, Yao Ran studied him for a moment before asking, "Brother Yuan, can you find out more detailed information about The Ark?"
Yuan Rihui raised his eyes to meet hers and asked back, "What kind of information do you want?"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I want details about their headquarters and secret laboratory locations. I also need a list of everyone connected to The Ark. The more specific, the better," Yao Ran replied.
Yuan Rihui frowned at her request. After a few seconds of silence, he said, "Miss Yao, this information won't come cheap."
Yao Ran chuckled, "If you think grains and meat aren't sufficient payment, how about medicine or livestock?"
At her words, Yuan Rihui's eyes lit up. He asked excitedly, "You also have livestock?" Yao Ran nodded. "Of course. Otherwise, where do you think the fresh meat comes from?" "What about the medicine? What kind of medicine do you have?" Yuan Rihui asked eagerly. Yao Ran leaned closer, lowered her voice, and whispered, "The kind that cures mutation and bodily deformities."
Hearing this, Yuan Rihui froze in realization.
This morning, his men bring back news that thousands of soldiers in the Second Army had suddenly recovered from their deformities. Some of them even gained abilities and have now joined the special forces team under Du Zhaoyi's direct order.
He looked at her in astonishment and asked in disbelief, "So you are the one supplying medicine to the Second Army soldiers?"
Knowing how wide Yuan Rihui's network was, Yao Ran didn't bother hiding the truth. Since he would find out sooner or later, she nodded and openly admitted it.
"Yes."
After her answer, Yuan Rihui's mind raced as he devised a plan to maximize his profit from this deal. A few moments later, he said, "Miss Yao, I want to see the medicine first."
Hearing this, Yao Ran knew he had accepted the deal. She stood up and asked, "How about a cup of tea at my place?"
"Alright," Yuan Rihui agreed.
As the two left the market area, a man with his face covered by a scarf walked out from a dark alley across from where they had been sitting. He watched their retreating figures for a moment before walking back into the dark alley.
Not far from there, Yao Ran glanced briefly toward the dark alley. Her eyes flickered for a second, and a faint smirk appeared on her lips.
Walking beside her, Yuan Rihui noticed she was looking at the dark alley and asked, "Miss Yao, what's wrong?"
Yao Ran looked away from the dark alley and smiled, "Nothing."
Meanwhile, back at the villa, Long Yu and Shi Xuan had just woken up.
Spotting Yao Ran's note on the dining table, Long Yu said, "A Xuan, you can eat first. I will wait for Ran Ran to return so we can eat together."
"Alright." Shi Xuan nodded and headed to the kitchen for a plate while Long Yu sat in the living room, training his control over his wind-element energy.
Half an hour later, Yao Ran opened the villa's gate and walked inside. Following behind her, Yuan Rihui couldn't help but comment, "Miss Yao, you must have spent a lot of resources to get this villa, right?"
Yao Ran thought about the supplies she had given to Xu Qipeng and nodded. "It was indeed quite a lot."
As they walked into the villa, Long Yu heard Yao Ran's voice and went to open the door. When he saw Yuan Rihui with her, he raised his eyebrows slightly and said, "Brother Yuan, long time no see."
Yuan Rihui smiled and greeted him back. "Brother Long, how have you been?"
Long Yu stepped aside to let them in and replied, "Still the same as before. How about you and Brother Ling?"
As he followed Long Yu and Yao Ran to the living room, Yuan Rihui responded, "Thanks to your and Miss Yao's timely help, both of us are fine and have fully recovered. It's just that our bodies are not as strong as before."
Yao Ran had already told Long Yu that Ling Yi and Yuan Rihui's bodies would be damaged to some extent after that incident, so he wasn't surprised by Yuan Rihui's answer.
Once in the living room, Long Yu gestured to Yuan Rihui and said, "Please, have a seat, Brother Yuan."
Sitting across from him, Long Yu asked, "Brother Yuan, what brings you here?"
