Chapter 101 Being A Server Is Difficult
While Lily began serving the customers, outside, seven figures were making their way to the restaurant.
Though they were surprised after seeing the building's appearance, once they asked the patrolling guards they learned the building belonged to Chef Lucian.
"Finally, I get to taste his food. It better be worth the wait." One of them said with anticipation audible in her voice.
"Of course, it will be great. Didn't you see their faces as they ate yesterday?
"That's true, Some of them were like ravenous wolves…" The first person added, teasingly glancing at Li Yong, causing him to grit his teeth in shame and embarrassment.
Anselm at the front of the group shook his head with his hands behind his back.
'Amitabha! These random nobodies are lucky Li Yong isn't the type to bully the weak. Otherwise, they'd be six feet under, kowtowing to King Yama.'
As ridiculous as it was, he would not go out of his way to help them. Instead, he would have rather liked it if Li Yong could teach them a lesson.
They were like annoying flies buzzing around.
Soon, they stepped into the restaurant accompanied by the sound of a chime and a mechanical voice in their head. However, after a moment of being stunned, they resumed their steps and entered the restaurant. The restaurant was not that big but it was comfortable and gave them a nice feeling.
"Welcome to Transcendence, please have a seat at those two tables." Lily pointed at the only two unoccupied tables and said in a hoarse-sounding voice.
"The menu is on the table. I'll be there to take your order soon." Lily continued as she headed back into the kitchen to get the last two plates of Siren's Melody Poached Egg.
After hearing her words, Li Yong looked at Anselm and the five nobodies with reluctance. Preferably, he would rather sit alone like he did yesterday. But the restaurant was small with only five, four-person tables.
"Benefactor Li Yong, is something the matter?"
As Li Yong was lost in his thoughts, an annoying person's voice entered his ears.
'What does that damn monk want?' He wondered as he turned in the direction of the voice. There, on one of the tables, the bald monk was calmly sitting with one of the nobodies while the other table was full with the rest of the nobodies.
'...When did they sit down?'n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Benefactor Li Yong, come. Sit here." Anselm smiled honestly and kindly as he patted the chair beside him. "I saved a spot just for you."
Seeing the expression on his face, Li Yong shivered. The bald donkey was far from a kind and honest person. Unfortunately, he had no choice but to sit at the table with him.
By the time Lily had finished serving the twins, who had kindly asked her to serve the others first, Garrett and Hervy had already finished licking their plates clean.
Garrett burped and let out a satisfied sigh. "Ahh! Delicious as always."
"It's indeed delicious Captain, but I'm still not full." Hervy frowned.
"Just be patient. Once Chef Lucian creates his new dish we won't have that problem ever again."
"Have you decided on what you all will be ordering?" Lily asked the seven customers who just entered less than a minute ago.
"I'll have the Siren's Melody Poached Egg."
"Amitabha, this poor monk has been dying to try Almsgiver Lucian's Siren's Melody Poached Egg his entire life."
"I want the same dish as them too."
"Give us four plates."
Hearing the last five voices, Lily frowned.
'Did Lily make a mistake?' She extended her Mana Sense and enveloped the seven of them. And sure enough, only two of them were qualified to eat her Big Brother Lucian Siren's Melody Poached Egg. The chubby young man from yesterday barely qualified as a Tendon Tempering Realm Mage while the shameless monk was a Bone Tempering Realm Mage.
Due to the vast difference in strength between them, they had not sensed Lily's Mana Sense enveloping them.
'Why do so many people disregard my Big Brother Lucian's rules?'
After sighing lightly, she explained the first rule of Transcendence to them and the effects the Siren's Melody Poached Egg would have on their bodies.
Once she finished explaining, the five of them nervously gulped even Li Yong and Anselm were a bit shaken. Hearing their Mana Veins would rupture was no less worrying than being told they would be killed. No… for a Mage, their Mana Veins were even more important than their life.
Though they were reluctant, they listened to her words. After all, no mentally well restaurant owner would deny paying customers.
Just then, Lucian emerged from the kitchen with his hands behind his back. He glanced at his new customers and quickly recognized them as the people from yesterday. He then observed Lily's interaction with them.
Being a server was more challenging than most would initially think. Servers required deep knowledge of the restaurant's menu items and eloquence to explain the menu and answer any questions customers might have. Merely reading the menu to a customer would be passable at an average restaurant.
However, at high-end restaurants, the server had to be knowledgeable about the menu items almost as much as the creator of the dishes.
At the moment, Lily was an unqualified waitress, but with time and experience, she could easily become the face of Transcendence. After all, Lily possessed an innate ability to read people, which was an essential requirement a great server required.
After nodding approvingly at Lily's patience with them, Lucian loudly cleared his throat with Mana.
The sound immediately silenced their light conversations.
"I've decided to add two new dishes to the menu. Starting tomorrow morning, you can order Sweet Berry Cream Glazed Dough Balls and Cheese and Herb Garlic Butter Dough Balls. They are both excellent and will surely satisfy your hunger."
In an instant, they erupted in excitement.
"Haha, that's great news!"
"Not only one dish, but we get two dishes!"
"Chef Lucian, you're the best!"
