Chapter 1112 The Split Top Guilds (Part 2/2)
1112 The Split Top Guilds (Part 2/2)
Zinnia and Meteor Rex arrived near the players guarding the way down into the Ancient Karst Spring.
When their group got within ten meters of the players who stood guard, a loud voice erupted, "Halt! This area is currently off-limits by order of the top guilds! If you attempt to proceed any further, you will be dealt with accordingly!"
The one who spoke was a handsome young man with long blonde hair and sharp silver eyes. From his extravagant cloth-based attire and the magic staff in his hand, one could tell he was someone of the magic caster class.
As the young man spoke, the players around him went on high alert and took an aggressive against the new arrivals.
Meteor Rex signaled for everyone to halt their movement as only he and Zinnia continued to walk forward. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"This friend, I am Meteor Rex, the section leader in charge of Sacred Beasts within Kifa Karsts. Next to me is section leader Zinnia, who represents Sleeping Gardenia in Kifa Karsts. As you can see, we are no strangers and have merely come to offer our assistance for this S-ranked quest." Meteor Rex stated calmly.
"So, it's section leader Rex and section leader Zinnia. I am Dark Light, a member of Hollow Tempo's combat group in Kifa Karsts. You'll have to excuse my rudeness, but we were ordered not to let anyone unauthorized pass this point. Given the importance of this S-ranked quest, I'm sure the two section leaders can understand. Rest assured, you'll still receive the quest rewards like the rest of us even if you don't go in. That is, of course, unless the two section leaders had a different idea in mind." Dark Light said with a cold gaze.
"Hahaha, a different idea? That's quite the joke. Anyone would be a fool to let go of such easy loot. I understand that you have your orders. That's why I'm sure you can also understand that it's a little ridiculous for us to leave the fate of our quest solely in the hands of others. Surely, you wouldn't request something so unreasonable, right?" Meteor Rex replied with a friendly smile accompanied by a sharp gaze.
"If it were just section leader Rex and Sacred Beasts, I might be willing to make an exception, but... You've come with quite the suspicious guests." Dark Light commented as he set his sights on Zinnia.
"Careful with your choice of words, Dark Light. One might think that you're accusing my Sleeping Gardenia of being unwelcomed here." Zinnia stated with a harsh glare directed at Dark Light.
"Come now, section leader Zinnia. By now, who doesn't know that Sleeping Gardenia is on close terms with the owner of the Mystical Realm Palace? You expect me to believe that you're here to act against him?" Dark Light scoffed.
"What me and my Sleeping Gardenia are here for is none of your and anyone else's concern! We've been patient with you, but I'll speak bluntly now! Move, or we'll make you move!" Zinnia snapped back.
"You're insane. Do you really plan to go against every top guild here?" Dark Light questioned with a frown.
The brief exchange between Zinnia and Dark Light caused the players on both sides to be on edge as the atmosphere became heavy. It felt as if at any moment, an intense battle might break out.
However, a burst of laughter erupted that cut through the tension as a voice sounded, causing everyone's attention to turn to the source of that laughter, Meteor Rex.
"Now now, let's not do anything we'd regret. Section leader Zinnia, this guy is just doing his job. Let's not make things too difficult for him, alright? Dark Light, was it? We'll get out of your hair. It's as you said, we'll still receive our quest rewards. No hard feelings, alright?" Meteor Rex said as he approached Dark Light and extended his hand for a handshake.
"Hmph..." Zinnia folded her arms with an annoyed expression as she looked away from Dark Light.
Dark Light glanced over at Zinnia before he looked down at Meteor Rex's extended hand. In truth, he did not expect Zinnia and Sleeping Gardenia to back down so easily. But, he did not think too much of it. After all, it was clear who held the advantage.
"I was overthinking things. There's no way they'd risk making an enemy of so many top guilds." Dark Light thought to himself with a victorious smile on his face as he clasped Meteor Rex's hand.
"I'm glad we could come to an understanding-"
Woosh! Phhhtk!
Before Dark Light could finish his sentence, a flash of crimson light erupted between where he and Meteor Rex stood.
Pierced through the center of Dark Light's throat all the way up to the hilt was a katana being held by Meteor Rex.
Dark Light tried to move; however, it seemed the attack he got hit by had a stun effect to it, making him unable to respond.
"We're under attack!" One of the players a few steps behind Dark Light yelled out as he dashed forward with his axe brandished.
Swoosh! Bang!
Out of nowhere, a spiraling flaming spear crashed into the player rushing to Dark Light's aid, knocking them back and engulfing them in a small sea of flames.
"Now!" Zinnia ordered as she stood behind a black giant salamander roughly 1.5 meters in length with a bit of smoke flowing out the edges of its mouth.
The moment Zinnia gave the order, players from Sleeping Gardenia and Sacred Beasts acted quickly. The long-ranged players rained down a storm of attacks while the melee players rushed into the fray under the cover and distraction they provided.
"Y-you... shameless... bastard..!" Dark Light uttered with an ugly expression and a look of anger in his eyes.
"Try not to blame me too much. You have your orders, but I also have mine, you know?" Meteor Rex said as he lightly flickered the bottom of his katana's hilt.
He then uttered, "Boom."
Meteor Rex's katana began to tremble and glow a bright crimson before unleashing a blinding light in the surrounding few meters.
BOOOOOM!
The next moment, an explosion rang that made the ground in front of the Ancient Karst Spring shake.
Not long after, the blinding light died down with Dark Light nowhere to be found and Meteor Rex standing alone.
Magic caster classes were well known for having a low amount of HP. That's why, under normal circumstances, they maintained a safe distance. However, Meteor Rex took advantage of Dark Light's misplaced assumption that they would not dare attack for fear of retaliation.
Meteor Rex brandished his katana and said, "Leave no one alive!"
...
A few moments ago, inside Polkentin's Underwater Secret Base...
Izroth had just unleashed the Whisper Striding Arrow and activated his Flickering Steps.
In the blink of an eye, Izroth vanished and all that could be seen was the arrow soaring through the air.
There were several twists and turns as well as solid objects that got in its way, but nothing could obstruct the Whisper Striding Arrow's path as it blew through anything that dared interfere with its flight.
