Chapter 233: Not because of the goodness in my heart
Chapter 233: Not because of the goodness in my heart
Arwen put his bow on his back and reached his hand out at the dead bodies as the arrows flew back to him and made their way into his quiver.
"because of us, you made an enemy out of Vreston, forgive us, King Don"
King Edward sighed and said but Don shook his head
"As I said, King Edward, princess Amber is working for me and I won't let anyone bully someone who works for me"
"I'm forever grateful to you, King Don but we are in this together, Sigalla will have your back if King Otello try to retaliate for what happened here"
"He won't, at least not until the winter passes"
He just attacked and killed the Vreston prince's guards and most probably made an enemy out of Vreston but still, Edward couldn't see any anxiousness or worry in his face as he still looked calm and cool.
However, King Edward didn't know what was going inside Don's mind.
Even though Don said he did that because of Amber, it wasn't entirely true as he deliberately wanted to make an enemy out of Vreston. Don knew that Vreston King wouldn't act so quickly for two reasons, first, he had the talisman of the Cold Moon palace, and when he used it, the whole empire would speculate that Don has the support of the Cold Moon Palace.
Secondly, traveling from Vreston to Agoria would take days for a small party like two or three carriages however, sending a battalion or a large number of troops for war would take weeks or even more than a week, and that was during the normal days. A sane king would not send his troops for war during the winter as marching through the knee-high snow would tire the troops and affect their morale and not to mention the chances of diseases to spread in the winter.
During the winter, Don planned to expand his army and increase his strength and after the winter, if the Vreston King made his move, he would be welcomed by Don's powerful army. Also, he had to take calculated risks like this to expand his kingdom and he very well knew that he can't play safe anymore.
Besides the risks, he strengthened the bond between Sigalla and his kingdom. From now on, King Edward and Queen Sienna would be indebted to him and that might prove useful in the future.
"Come, King Don, we should go to the living room"
King Edward said avoiding to look at the puddle of blood and gory before him.
"Yes, lead the way"
And when Arwen started to follow Don, he gave a glare at Harris for a second that made Harris step back involuntarily.
Queen Sienna sent Amber to wash her face before entering the living room as Amber quickly rushed towards her room and Yvonne followed her behind.
"King Don, this is?"
King Edward asked, looking at Reghys as Don and Reghys leisurely sat on the sofa and Arwen stood behind Don.
"She's one of my advisors"
"Name is Reghys"
Reghys slightly leaned forward and shook King Edward's and Sienna's hand.
Although Reghys looked like she's the same age as her, Sienna felt inferior compared to the charm of the woman before her. She was not a goddess-like beauty but every moment, the way she was sitting had the grace of a Queen.
"King Edward, I understand that you were in a tough spot, but who was that guy came to receive us?"
Don didn't even say the name but both of them seemed to have guessed the one that he was talking about.
"Sir Harris, what did he do?"
"Just asking"
"Don't kill him, King Don, he would have acted like that because"
Queen Sienna almost shouted at him but she quickly lowered her voice as Don's curiosity peaked.
"Because what, Queen Sienna?"
"You executed his uncle and his cousins, King Don"
"When?"
Don was surprised to hear Queen Sienna as he had no idea when he did that.
"During the Heaven's Gate execution"
King Edward said.
"Then they deserved it, but how do you know this?"
"Every rank four kingdom knows about that, King Don, you executed more than half of the nobles in your kingdom in a single day"'
When they first heard about the execution and the way he executed the nobles sent a chill through their spines but after hearing why he did that, King Edward and Queen Sienna wholeheartedly supported his decision as they were disgusted when they heard about what happened in heaven's gate.
"King Don, you said you can give us a constant water supply?"
Since Don didn't seem like he wanted to talk about Vreston or King Otello, Queen Sienna asked about this as, without the stream that was coming from Vreston, their kingdom wouldn't be able to survive.
"Yes, I have many overflowing lakes and rivers in Agoria and if you can open up a portal to Agoria, I'll send you the water you need till the dam is built"
"How?"
Queen Sienna tilted her head and seemed confused as Don turned his gaze towards Reghys.
"Imagine huge balloons that filled with water instead of air"
"You can build those?"
Reghys calmly said as Queen Sienna and King Edward raised their brows.
"It's quite simple, I'll just show a few people how to and they can make those"
"How long will it take?"
Reghys could sense the rush in Sienna's voice
"How many people are living here?"
"Last time we checked, around a thousand five hundred"
"Hmm"
Reghys roughly estimated the number of balloons that would take to sustain the livelihood of 1500 people.
"You need fifteen balloons per week, do you have reserve water?"
"Yes, but without the stream fro the Vreston, the reserve would run out in a week"
"That's okay, four days from now, open up the portal and you'll get your water"
Reghys said
"I'll send you a few great masters, they can transport the balloons and help you refill your water sources"
They didn't know what shocked them more, the way he mentioned the great masters like a small thing or they could craft balloons that could solve their water problem.
"And don't worry about paying back, King Edward, think of this as a gesture from Everlight for a long-lasting friendship between our kingdoms"
Don could see Sigalla's dire situation and didn't want to squeeze them out as he had no urgency for wealth.
"Thank you, King Don"
Both of them were not in the position to refuse as they accepted with a smile.
"And about what happened between us and Timothy"
Don waved his hand and interrupted King Edward
"I meant what I said to Timothy, King Edward, I don't care about that, if he's not an idiot, he won't come looking for trouble again"
Don knew that it was something to do with Olivia and Patrick. He had seen enough families get destroyed because of one arrogant or scheming young miss in the divine continent. Although Olivia seemed innocent pure princess, Don didn't believe her facade as he could see the scheming manipulator through her charm. So, he didn't need Edward to tell how she manipulated Patrick and got what she wanted.
Unlike the young master who got revenge against manipulators like Olivia in the divine continent, Patrick seemed weak and a book worm. As far as Don concerned, if he couldn't even protect his little sister, what's the use of his studies and the books that he buried in.
"How's the renovation work going on?"
Don's main reason for this visit was to check out the restaurant and the tea house in Sigalla and considering Amber might be spent this day crying, he asked King Edward.
But when he asked the question, both of them looked at each other and gently smiled
"She didn't even let us see the inside of the buildings, King Don"
Although they had enough worries in their minds, reminiscing the time when Amber was fixed on not letting them inside the building put a smile on their faces.
"Well, we can go and see them now, let your minds to relax"
Queen Sienna and King Edward nodded as they stood up to show him the buildings.
And this time, General Brown escorted them through the streets of Sigalla, and after a few minutes of walking under the scorching sun and the gazes of the citizens, Don saw a bunch of workers and soldiers were painting as well as renovating a three-story building.
"Your majesty, your highness"
The soldiers and workers who were working quickly stopped what they were doing and bowed towards Sienna and Edward.
Considering the building seemed to have only some touch-up works and painting works, there were no dwarves or any of his men.
This time Amber was not here to stop them as they entered the silver embroidered dark greyish door to enter the building with Don.
Unlike the buildings in Agoria and Emir, in here, the walls were painted with a shining charcoal color and decorated with silver drawings that perfectly complemented each other.
The sofas were tailored to resemble lotuses and roses as the tables resembled leaves. Other tables and furniture, as well as the stairs leading to the upper floors, were made of glass.
"King Don, have you thought of a name for your establishments, yet?"
"Amaryll and Princess Amber should come up with a name, they deserve that honor"
As he said, they took a tour around the second and third floors and it was not drastically different than the one in Agoria and Emir. Since this building and the tea house building was located between the noble district and the commercial area of Sigalla, Don had no doubt that the business in Sigalla would prosper.
