Chapter 935: Devastating Attack

Kaizen watched intently as the tension in the clearing grew. The air around them seemed electrified by the possibility of battle. Gieneno and Zukas exchanged glances, communicating in silence as only longtime partners could. The sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows through the trees and creating an almost mystical setting for the confrontation that was about to take place.

Alaric, realizing the gravity of the moment, nodded slowly. "If a show of force is necessary, then so be it. Kaizen, Cephal, show them what we're capable of."

Kaizen stepped forward, his posture confident but not arrogant. "Very well, Gieneno. Let's settle this once and for all."

Gieneno smiled, a pale, almost ghostly smile that didn't reach his deep-set eyes. "I have always wanted to test my skills against you, Kaizen. There is something about you that fascinates me. Something I need to understand."

Zukas, still with his arms crossed, nodded to his partner before turning to Cephal. "Then it seems we have an agreement. Cephal, I will show you why we are called the Transformed Guild."

Cephal replied with a grim smile and raised his sword. "I'm more than ready."

Alaric, recognizing the need to maintain a strategic view, rose gently from the ground and floated until he found a branch high enough to give him a clear view of the clearing. From there, he watched like an eagle, ready to intervene if necessary.

Kaizen and Gieneno headed toward the southern part of the forest, where the trees grew thicker and the ground was covered with a blanket of dry leaves and tangled roots. The atmosphere was quiet, except for the occasional rustle of leaves in the wind.

They positioned themselves on opposite sides of a small clearing, enough to move freely, but still surrounded by the overwhelming presence of the forest.

On the other side, Cephal and Zukas headed for the northern part, where the vegetation was less dense, giving them more space to fight. The trees were more spread out here, allowing the twilight to bathe the area in a soft, golden glow.

Kaizen kept his eyes on Gieneno, watching every move, every breath of his opponent. "Let us begin," he said, his voice firm.

Gieneno raised one of his thin hands, and an ethereal energy began to emanate from his fingers. "Prepare yourself, Kaizen. I will show you what it means to face an Evolved."

Kaizen stood firm, feeling the energy emanating from Gieneno like a wave of heat. His eyes, cold and calculating, did not miss a single move of his opponent. The clearing, shrouded in an almost palpable silence, was punctuated only by the subtle sound of the two combatants breathing. Gieneno, his hand raised, looked like a conductor about to conduct a symphony of destruction.

"Are you ready?" Gieneno asked, a defiant tone in his voice.

Kaizen did not answer with words. Instead, a dark aura began to envelop his body, signaling the activation of his blackening technique. His muscles became more defined, his skin taking on a metallic sheen that reflected what little light remained in the room. He was ready for whatever came next.

Gieneno began to focus his energy, and the air around him seemed to vibrate with intense power. Lines of ethereal light began to spread from his fingers, forming complex patterns in the air. These lines converged on a central point, creating a sphere of pure, pulsating energy. The sphere grew in intensity, emitting a blinding glow that illuminated the entire clearing.

"Test it, Kaizen!" Gieneno shouted, throwing the ball of energy with a sudden motion.

The orb shot towards Kaizen, ripping through the air with a deafening sound. Kaizen braced himself, his body completely enveloped in the blackening technique. When the energy ball hit him, there was a massive explosion. A shockwave spread across the clearing, uprooting trees, rocks, and anything else in its path.

The ground shook violently and a cloud of dust and debris rose, obscuring everyone's view.

From his observation post, Alaric narrowed his eyes, trying to see through the curtain of dust.

The impact had been devastating, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Buildings crumbled to the ground, their once sturdy structures reduced to piles of rubble. The streets were littered with debris, shattered glass, and twisted metal. It was a scene of chaos and despair. As he surveyed the aftermath, he marveled at the incredible force that must have been unleashed.

It was evident that anyone caught in its path would have been instantly annihilated, their fate sealed without formidable protection. The sheer power of the impact left no room for survival, emphasizing the need for strong and impenetrable safeguards against such catastrophic events.

The ground was littered with debris, a testament to the sheer force of the impact. Alaric could make out twisted metal and shattered concrete, evidence of what was once a bustling city street. The air was thick with smoke and the acrid smell of burning buildings. Alaric's heart sank as he scanned the area, searching for any signs of life.

He had seen destruction before, but this was on another level entirely. It was clear that whoever or whatever had caused this devastation possessed immense power. Alaric's mind raced, trying to piece together the events that had unfolded. Who could have orchestrated such destruction, and why? As he continued to survey the scene, Alaric's determination grew.

He knew that he had to find answers and bring those responsible to justice, no matter the cost.

As the dust began to settle, a lone figure slowly emerged from the shadows. Kaizen stood, his metallic skin gleaming in the twilight. He was breathing hard, clearly affected by the impact, but still steady. The blackening technique had protected his body from total destruction, but he had still lost a considerable amount of energy.

"Impressive," Gieneno muttered, watching Kaizen with a mixture of respect and fascination. "You survived my weakest attack. But what is your condition, Kaizen? How much more can you take?"

Kaizen smiled, though it was a tired smile. "That was just a warm-up, Gieneno. I still have enough strength to continue."

Gieneno narrowed his eyes, his mind racing. He knew that Kaizen wasn't bluffing, but he also knew that every technique had its limits. "Then let's see how far you can go, Kaizen. Let's see what you're really made of."

Meanwhile, in the northern part of the forest, Cephal and Zukas were also preparing for their confrontation. Zukas, with a concentrated look on his face, watched Cephal wield his sword with skill. Cephal was known for his ferocity and fighting skills, and Zukas knew it would be a fatal mistake to underestimate him.

"You look confident, Cephal," Zukas commented, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Cephal laughed, a deep, guttural sound. "Confidence is a powerful weapon, Zukas. And I have every reason to be confident. Let's see if you can handle it."

Zukas assumed a defensive posture, his hands glowing with a soft light as he channeled his inner energy. "Let's begin, then."
