Chapter 398: Fifth World: Hangover Cure?
The temperature in the room dropped a few degrees with each step Qie Ranzhe took. Wen Qinxi's body shivered as though responding to this drastic change in temperature. Qie Xieling on the other hand decided to use Zhao Zhi as a meat shield hiding behind him.
Feeling somewhat sullen for being used as a shield by his cowardly son, Wen Qinxi pinched the side of his abdomen and said, "You are his son and I am a stranger so who do you think he is most comfortable killing?"
"Ouch... Shixiong, I am confident in your ability to survive unlike me....," whispered Qie Xieling but he didn't get to finish his words because Qie Ranzhe cleared his throat silencing them both.
Qie Ranzhe glared at these two people begrudgingly as he ambled over to the table at the centre of the room. As soon as he sat down a servant scurried in and placed a tray with a clay teapot and three porcelain cups on the table.
Qie Ranzhe waved away the servant who was about to pour it out for him. He proceeded to pour out the steaming brew into the cups. He finished pouring it out but the two people remained standing.
Without raising his head he said, "Are you waiting for me to personally carry you here?" in a somewhat sarcastic tone.
Despite having said this, the two people remained rooted on the spot eyeballing him suspiciously. Annoyed, Qie Ranzhe yelled, "Sit!" in a domineering dad voice that had the two rushing over obediently.
Qie Ranzhe pulled back his sleeve and placed the cups in front of them in a simple yet elegant move that had Wen Qinxi drooling over him again. He then proceeded to take a sip of his tea but the two people remained frozen.
They didn't reach out for the tea on the table watching him intently. Qie Ranzhe slammed his cup on the table and finally gazed at them with a ferocious bone-chilling stare.
The two finally caught his hint and quickly took their cups to drink. But once that pungent liquid touched the tips of their tongues the two people's faces turned grim wishing they could cut out their tongues to get rid of the bad taste in their mouths.
Qie Ranzhe looked at his son and Zhao Zhi's somewhat kindred reaction which gave him goosebumps. They weren't similar in looks but their mannerisms were especially identical.
"What the fuuudge," said Qie Xieling about to swear but he immediately changed his words when his father eyed him like a bald eagle eyeing its prey.
It was Zhao Zhi's swearing that broke the father and son stare down. "Fuck... Ran-ge, you are such a fuckin asshole. Why the fuck would you make me drink that. Ah!.... shit!" Wen Qinxi didn't stop there, he smacked Qie Ranzhe's arm while continuing with his swearing match.
Qie Xieling wanted to stop Zhao Zhi but he was too slow. His favourite shixiong had just offended this great buddha with his naughty hands. Qie Ranzhe's gaze fell on the arm that had just been smacked by this brazen man who not only acted overly familiar with him but swore at him.
Never in his entire life had he been treated this way by anyone. Even when he was kicked out of the Zhao sect it was done subtly. Not a single bad word was said to him. Well, at least not in front of him.
His piercing gaze moved to Zhao Zhi's face jolting Wen Qinxi out of his trance. He felt like banging his head on the wall for acting stupid. Thinking of the pain he immediately changed it to lightly slapping his face a couple of times for overlooking the current circumstances.
"Uh... I am so, very much sorry sect leader Qie.... haha, aren't we all friends here?" he said rubbing Qie Ranzhe's arm but the man's face became uglier so he reworded his sentence. "Okay, okay... I understand. Maybe the word friend is a little deep so let's say fellow sect allies."
This entire time Wen Qinxi's hands didn't leave Qie Ranzhe's body. It wasn't that he couldn't read the situation but that it was just so addictive touching those sturdy muscles. He missed touching his lover so much that he forgot himself once he laid his hand on him.
The grave expression on Qie Xieling's face deepened the more Zhao Zhi's hand lingered on his father. He wanted to save this Shixiong but as the saying goes 'fools rush in where angels fear to tread' there was no way to save him. 'Forget it, I will just burn joss paper on his grave,' he thought choosing to act blind.
Wen Qinxi got even bolder pressing the muscles with great admiration. "Wah... you have great muscles sect leader Qie. Would you like to share your exercise plan?" he said digging a large put for himself.
Qie Ranzhe's expression turned darker and darker with each touch. He couldn't understand why this person wasn't afraid to offend him. Was it that his terrifying reputation was diluted by the time it got to the Zhao sect?
He was not only taken advantage of once but twice that is after Zhao Zhi picked a fight with him. It didn't make any sense.
"Do you want to lose that hand?" asked Qie Ranzhe in an overbearing tone bringing Wen Qinxi back to earth.
"Ahem... sorry," said Wen Qinxi with his fist covering his mouth. He didn't want to provoke this tyrannical sect leader but he couldn't help himself. This look but don't touch policy wasn't working for him.
"Finish it," said Qie Ranzhe referring to the disgusting tea. Since they dared to drink especially Qie Xieling then they had to suffer the consequences of their actions.
As expected, the two faces sank like they had been forced to drink poison. "It's good for hangovers. Now drink," he said in a serious tone but the two people remained motionless.
"Drink!" yelled Qie Ranzhe at his wit's end. As soon as he said that the two resigned to their fate and gulped down the disgusting tea. Qie Ranzhe watched as the two wore ugly expressions while rushing outside to look for anything to ease their suffering. A fleeting smile showed on his face as he finished the so-called tea.
One might ask how was he able to keep a straight face while drinking such a pungent drink? It was because he had consumed a fragrant sensory pill, the perfect antidote for those who can't handle bitter medicine.
After an hour of running around like headless chickens, the two men finally joined Qie Ranzhe at what was meant to be the breakfast table but because they woke up late it would be considered brunch.
While waiting to be served, Qie Ranzhe began to interrogate the two of them with a domineering spirit that made it hard to plead the fifth. "Who did that?" asked Qie Ranzhe with his lowered eyes gazing at Qie Xieling's chest.
