She Belongs To The Devil

Chapter 709 Possessed - I

"No! Please… Don't!"

That woman skittered backward until her back touched the cold wall. She crossed her arms over her chest and began to shiver like a leaf. It was evident in her eyes that the earlier incident had pushed her into a trauma, which would probably last for her life like a wound that would never heal.

Joyce felt pity for that young lady, and anger towards her attacker. She looked around and pulled out a pashmina shawl from the piles of clothes on the bed.

She walked to that trembling woman's side and tried to wrap that shawl around her body.

However, that woman was startled when Joyce tried to come near her. And she started to behave as if she was terrified of Joyce as well. "Please d-don't come near me. L-Leave me alone… P-Please…"

Joyce was saddened to see that woman in that pitiful state. She gently placed the shawl by her side and spoke to her in as soft a voice as she could, "Miss, I'm not here to hurt you. I was just passing by and happened to find you in need of my help. Do you–"

Suddenly, they both heard that man shouting at the top of his lungs, "Where the hell are you, you witch?"

The woman suddenly grabbed Joyce's hand and pleaded in terror, "Please save me from him… He will… He will kill me… Please… Save me."

Joyce warmly held that woman's hand and tried to calm her, "He won't be able to do anything to you. I will take him to the prison."

She sat down in front of that woman. And she firmly said while looking into her eyes, "I will make sure that he will never see the daylight again."

"How will–" that woman jumped in fear when she heard that man's voice again.

"Free me from here, you witch! Or else I will gut you next! Hey! Are you listening? Do you even know who you're dealing with here?"

The victim became even more terrified after hearing those threats from outside. "No… he will hurt me again… he will…"

Joyce closed her eyes and took a deep breath in. If only she wasn't alone with the petrified survivor, she would have gone outside and showed that man his place. However, she couldn't simply leave that woman alone when she was scared to her core.

Joyce looked at that woman, she was shaking uncontrollably. And she tried comforting her, "He won't be able to come here. I have tied him outside. You don't have to fear that man while I am right by your side."

"But… but…"

Joyce tightened her hold on that woman's hand. And she gently asked her, "I will take him away from your sight. Do you have anyone else in your family who can look after you while I take that man to prison?"

However, that woman suddenly broke down into tears. "No…" she said in a painful whisper. She hung her head low and she whispered while hiccupping and crying, "My husband died a few months ago. I don't have anyone else."

Joyce felt even sorrier for that woman. She couldn't even guess how devastating and scary it must be to live alone in the middle of nowhere. And she didn't even want to imagine how frightened that woman must have been when she was attacked mercilessly.

Joyce watched that woman crying her heart out. She didn't know what she could tell that woman. Would her words even be enough to give even a drop of comfort to that woman?

After crying for quite a while, that woman calmed down a little. Her throat was parched and she had no strength left to even cry.

And Joyce was in a dilemma. She was asking herself, "What should I do? I should have brought someone along with me. Now whom should I take with me first? Her or that man? If I leave her alone in this state, she might get herself into some trouble.

And if I leave that man, he might escape."Nôv(el)B\\jnn

While Joyce was busy contemplating her options, that woman looked at Joyce and said while staring blankly, "That man is my late husband's friend but… but he… he… took advantage of me. And he even tried to kill me when I said that I would bring the matter to the court." Your next read awaits at empire

And rather than caring about her own life, she suddenly became more concerned about Joyce. She held Joyce's hand with both of her hands and urged Joyce, "Y-You should run away from here. He is a ruthless monster. He might try to harm you as well. Please run away before he breaks out of the ropes."

Joyce was dumbfounded. Her rage knew no bounds when she heard what that man had done to that woman. That also to his late friend's wife!

And as if the soul sucker was reading Joyce's emotions, it rattled on her chest as if it wanted to break out of that capsule and punish that man itself.

Joyce's facial expression suddenly turned cold. Her hatred and rage towards that man became so stronger that she looked like she was possessed by something dangerous.

"Wait here," Joyce told that woman and got up. She took the shawl and wrapped it around that woman's shoulders.

And she headed straight for the door.

"Hey, where are you going? That man is a monster! Don't go near him!" the survivor shouted at Joyce to warn her so that Joyce's fate wouldn't turn out to be like hers.

Joyce turned her head and said to that woman before leaving, "And I am a witch. So don't worry."

Joyce jumped out of the window. The rattling of her pendant had become stronger than before.

"Haha… I knew you would come to your senses! Now hurry up and untie me before I get angrier, you witch! You witches don't belong to this Kingdom. So either let me go or I will rally up the villagers and burn you down."

That man was still trying to step on Joyce's ego. He was trying to get to her by throwing insults and empty threats at her.

And Joyce was now furious. Not only did he commit such heinous crimes on a helpless and lonely woman, but he also showed no remorse for his actions whatsoever. And what's more, he was even threatening her.

She glared down at that man. She stepped on his back and twisted his muscle.

"Argh! What are you doing? You're going to regret this!"

Joyce's voice suddenly echoed as though it was someone else who was speaking, "You don't even deserve to live."
