Chapter 156 - Together
Verona couldn't help but hide her blush. What kind of situation was this? A woman walking into a guy's room so late at night? By earth's standards this didn't seem right.
But Klautz was even more of a Hell folk than those 'Residents'. Earth? He had even forgot how it felt like being on earth.
"Come sit here," Klautz tapped the bed beside him.
He invited her to sit beside him on the same bed. Verona could only comply as she walked with fidgety steps.
"What did you call me here for?" Verona asked.
Her flush crept across her cheeks as she was visibly sweating in nervousness.
"Nothing really. I was just a bit lonely. As you can see I have no roommates," Klautz claimed.
Verona turned her line of sight as it fell on the empty bed in the room. Unlike Klautz's bed this one wasn't wrinkled. It was evident that no one used it.
It was then…
When Verona was busy scanning the room and wasn't looking... Klautz rested his head on her lap without her permission. He acted as if he owned that place and didn't even regret ogling at her breasts. He was as casual as he could be as if he had done so a hundred times before already.
But Verona didn't have a similar train of thought. It was clear that she felt her personal space infiltrated.
Verona's pupils shook but she didn't push him away.
Didn't he tell her that he was feeling lonely? She knew what it feels to be all alone. To wake up in the morning and realize that there was no one to keep her company. How could she push him away when she knew the state he was in?
Klautz had a heart as hard as a rock. Loneliness was the least of his worries. But when he had someone to keep company, why should he willingly push her away?
Verona smiled wryly. Her fingers slipped below as she lovingly stroked his head just like a mother lovingly stroked her son.
Klautz too had his body flinching as he felt her touch. In his two lives, Verona's actions were probably the closest to what one might call filial love. Klautz pupils shook. Being loved… It was a nice feeling that he had experienced for the first time.
In each other's warmth, they felt a familiarness as they had gone through the same pain albeit to different degrees.
"You know Verona… I think I need you as something more than just a teammate. Won't you be my woman?" Klautz blurted out.
He wasn't sure if what he said was right. But those words came out as naturally as they could have to make them an honest confession.
Klautz and Verona had come for a long distance, sometimes their relationship was sour sometimes it was sweet nevertheless Klautz believed having Verona all to himself would be nice. Why did he think so? There might be many reasons but perhaps her class was among them… not to mention the filial warmth he felt from her.
"Eh?" Her cheeks turned red. "Th- That. Wh- What are you saying? Stop joking please."
Verona's voice fluttered as she removed her hands and moved them away from Klautz's hair. But Klautz caught onto her arm.
"It's what you heard… Be mine," Klautz was as expressionless as ever. But he stared deep into Verona's eyes relaying his true feelings.
"But… but you are too young for me. And you have Selena, how could you even say such a thing!"
Klautz sighed.
"Selena and I were just in a mutual agreement. We realized it would be for the best of both of us. Getting into a sexual relationship just so happened to benefit both of us. There were no feelings involved in it. But you Verona… you are someone I adore," Klautz shamelessly announced.
From the very start that was the kind of relationship he and Selena shared. At most, she was Klautz's outlet for his lust and she too benefitted from the same in ways more than one.
'Don't know if telling her this was the right choice'
Klautz wasn't very good at expressing his feelings. Social skills were not his forte. So he chose to be honest instead. He had little to no game when it came to approaching women. In fact Klautz getting better at sex was all thanks to Selena.
"Is that so?" Verona's lips parted as she was thinking hard.
Was that all that was going on between the two? She tried to remember the times she had spent with both of them.
"And regarding age. I don't even care about age. I might look young but I am much older than you could probably assume."
Klautz had spent a whole life before being reborn. His memories made him much older than Verona. Maybe that was the reason why she felt that Klautz was always the one scolding her rather than the other way round.
But alas, Klautz had to die as an eunuch in his previous life. Klautz wasn't going to make the same mistakes as he had done before. He would embrace debauchery in its entirety.
But Verona shook her head.
"But this… this feels so wrong!" Verona couldn't help but complain.
No matter how she looks at it, someone at her age being with Klautz didn't feel right. Someone the same age as Selena was better suited to him.
Klautz sighed.
"Is there something that you dislike about me? Age is just a number, why bother?" Klautz asked with a smile on her face.
"No… I guess," her voice spluttered.
She was probably the one who knew Klautz the best. What could he hate about him? He was reliable and caring. No… he was only 'sometimes' reliable and caring.
But his gaze was enough to make her whole body flinch and become submissive.
