Chapter 280: “Pretending”
Chapter 280: “Pretending”
Under everyone’s gaze, Sean drank the “Veritaserum”.
He shook his head, his breathing became heavy, his eyes were slightly absent-minded, and beads of sweat appeared on his forehead. This perfectly matched his state after taking Veritaserum. Ponte almost couldn’t wait to take a step forward to ask questions, but Professor McGonagall stood in front of him.
“Mr. Ponte, let me be the one who asks.” There was a hint of warning in her words.
Ponte glanced at her and forced a smile.
Professor McGonagall turned his head and looked at Sean gently, and asked, “Who are you?”
“Sean Wallup.” Sean replied quickly, without any hesitation.
Professor McGonagall stood up straight, “Okay, this lady has said just now that if there was Voldemort’s soul in you, then Tom Riddle’s memory will also answer along with it.”
Sean was pretending to be confused and couldn’t help wiping his sweat.
She turned to look at Sean, “Are you Tom Riddle?”
“No.”
“Do you know how Tom Riddle’s soul parasitized you?”
“No idea,” Sean replied in a deadpan tone, “I don’t know what’s going on.”
Professor McGonagall stopped between the two, and she looked at the witch seriously, “Can you prove my student’s innocence now?”
Ponte nodded to several people but secretly gestured with his hands behind his back.
Snape looked up at Sean with his head raised and then quickly said, “You are lucky. Not only has the parasite been completely eliminated, but also your soul has not been damaged.”
Ponte frowned and asked, “Professor Snape, what do you think? I heard that some dark wizards can find a way to escape the influence of Veritaserum.”
“Are you doubting my potion skill?” Snape looked at him coldly.
“I didn’t mean that…”
Snape flicked the sleeve of his robe in dissatisfaction, “Wallup is a student of Hogwarts. In England, it is illegal to use Veritaserum on underage wizards. You people told me that you have an international law. Special permission from the Confederation, but I still have to remind you, you need to explain the situation to Dumbledore.”
After saying this, he walked out of the room angrily. Ponte forced a smile at Professor McGonagall and finally nodded helplessly.
Just as Professor McGonagall was helping Sean out of the office, the Guards who had been guarding the door and hadn’t spoken suddenly asked, “Do you have a way to contact Grindelwald in private?”
“No.” Sean answered without a trace of hesitation. He only showed an angry look before he said it and then stared at them coldly.
“Mr. Ponte.” Professor McGonagall’s voice was filled with anger.
Disappointment flashed across Ponte’s eyes. He walked over quickly and said something to the Guards. He greeted Professor Rosier and led most of the Guards towards the outside of the castle.
On the way, the Guards said in a low voice, “Wallup did not hesitate, and his voice has no emotion. He is indeed still under the influence of Veritaserum. It seems that he is really just an innocent victim.”
Ponte sighed, “That kid and Grindelwald must have something, but it may not be the relationship we imagined. Maybe it is just like what he told me before Grindelwald loves him so much that he treats him privately. After that night, he probably couldn’t get in touch with Grindelwald.”
Walking outside the castle, he ordered, “Bring some potions and Galleons to that kid. We can’t let the relationship between Dumbledore and us deteriorate, and the raw materials of Veritaserum will be sent to you. Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall, and Professor Rosier shall also receive some gifts. They saved many of our people tonight.”
“Yes, boss.” The man then asked again, “Will you go to the hospital with us later?”
Ponte sighed, “I have to go back and report the situation. I hope the higher-ups will let go of their suspicions about that kid. Merlin’s beard, I don’t want to be involved in this mess again.”
After speaking, he disappeared in place.
Inside the castle, Professor McGonagall helped Sean and softly instructed, “The effect of Veritaserum is usually ten minutes long. Just to be on the safe side, you should stay here for a while. After all, no one wants to hear your secrets in public.”
Sean almost blurted out his thanks, but he quickly changed his words, “Yes.”
Professor McGonagall patted him on the shoulder and went to guard the door for him. Sean was the only one left in the room. He sighed, his thoughts turned, but his face still had that expressionless expression. There were still a few minutes before the effect ended, and he had to pretend for a while.
However, after what happened tonight, at least he was cleaned up.
Now, the wizarding world is still headed by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards. Unless you can overthrow the world by yourself, you still need the approval of official organizations to live normally in the wizarding world.
Sean wants to develop his power more, enhance his strength more, and also deal with the outbreak of the prophecy in the future. It is indeed not a good choice to move quietly now.
Fortunately, there was no danger tonight. He let himself out and cleared out of his suspicion, which is not a loss. Thinking about it, he felt that his eyelids suddenly became heavy, and an irresistible drowsiness gradually hit him.
Professor McGonagall walked in again, and Sean heard some words.
“The effect of the medicine is over, Mr. Wallup. You can rest tonight.”
“Okay, thank you, professor.”
Hearing this, Sean could no longer resist the drowsiness and fell into a deep sleep.

Germany, Berlin, headquarters of the International Confederation of Wizards.
In the meeting room, there are no empty seats around it, and a meeting is going on at the headquarters.
“Grindelwald has kept his own law and order for decades. The Confederation and Dumbledore worked together to persuade this lawless man. Hasn’t he done well over the years?!” A white male wizard in his fifties said.
Opposite him, someone raised his glasses and said in a strange tone, “But the crimes committed by Grindelwald are unforgivable.”
“Big deal! Do you really think that you are upholding justice? Looking back, who in the Ministry of Magic of your respective countries has not accepted the wealth of a pure-blood family and exonerated its family members?!”
The expressions of many people became ugly, and the chairman sitting at the top nodded seriously at the one who had just spoken.
“Watch your words, Mr. Chapman.”
Chapman snorted angrily, but he didn’t continue to talk about this topic. Although he was grumpy, he was not stupid. If he offended a group of people just now, he could be regarded as outspoken. If he continued, he would really offend everyone.
After a brief awkward atmosphere, everyone started arguing about how to deal with Grindelwald. But no matter how much they argued, one group of people couldn’t convince the other group, and they didn’t say much. Finally, the chairman, who didn’t talk much in the whole meeting, came to a conclusion.
“The arrest warrant continues to be issued, but Grindelwald’s former subordinates should not be troubled anymore. We need more discussions on the specific plan. The Guards also need a new leader.”
“This meeting is over.”
At the Floo powder window, someone caught up with Chapman.
“Mr. Chapman, what are we going to do? The chairman doesn’t do anything.”
Chapman said angrily, “What are we going to do? What if the arrest warrant is issued? Discuss how to deal with Grindelwald?”
“Bah!” he spat fiercely on the ground, “No one was caught. What is there to discuss?! There must be someone pulling the strings behind the Guards.”
The man also sighed, “I don’t know what the Chairman thinks.”
Chapman glanced around, and when he found no one, he slightly lowered his voice but still said angrily, “What do you think? The chairman has been in this position for decades. Don’t you know how he came to the position?”
The man smiled awkwardly, “I know, but the public doesn’t know it.”
Chapman snorted coldly, “The old employees who have worked at the headquarters for decades don’t know that his grandfather is the former chairman!”
“Mr. Chapman, it’s better not to say this…”
“What of it?” Chapman’s beard was shaking, “He was able to win the election with the help of the previous chairman since the other candidates were too bad.”
“But the chairman has been in office for so many years, at least the wizarding world is in a peaceful state.”
Chapman grabbed a handful of Floo powder and said angrily, “Grindelwald and Dumbledore brought that peace! He is just like his grandfather. He does nothing!”
“Sir, please keep your voice down…”
“For what?!” Chapman sprinkled Floo powder into the fireplace, and the green light danced on his face, “It’s not long since the chairman changed. He didn’t do anything during his years. As long as the term of office is over, we should have a new chairman.”

Sean opened his eyes, sat up straight, and then stretched a lot. It was a comfortable sleep, but he was very hungry.
He glanced at his watch and was surprised to find that he had slept for more than 20 hours, and today was the morning of the third day. As he was about to get up, the door was gently pushed open.
Daisy and Hermione came in.
“Sean, are you awake?” Daisy’s eyes lit up, and she walked over bouncingly.
“Good morning.” He greeted me with a smile.
Hermione brought the plate over and said, “Professor Snape did something to make you fall into a deep sleep for more than twenty-four hours. Daisy asked again later, and she said you’ll be fine.”
“The Professor said that you are parasitized, and a good sleep is good for your body. I calculated the time when you woke up perfectly, so I went with Hermione to get you breakfast. Are you hungry?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Sean’s stomach made a rumbling sound. He smiled, picked up the sandwich on the plate, and ate it.
After swallowing a large piece, Sean looked at the two who were watching him eat and said with a smile, “Did you two go to see Professor Snape?”
Daisy nodded quickly, “Hermione immediately thought of a way. She even attracted the attention of the Guards in order to let me pass safely.”
“Thank you, Hermione.” Sean patted Hermione’s hand.
She smiled, “The Guards wanted to investigate my wand a long time ago. I had cast a spell on my wand a long time ago, and they let me off since no proof can be found.”
“Yes, yes, Hermione is smart.” Daisy giggled.
Hermione replied, “You’re not bad as well. You easily persuaded Professor Snape and sent you a lot of potions.”
“Hey, I’ll return the gift to him later at Christmas.”
The two looked at each other and smiled, then clapped their hands. Sean watched it as a joke, but a warm current rose in his heart. It feels so good to have someone who really cares about him.
After breakfast, they told the two what happened that night, and they walked out after making sure that Sean was fine. He first went to Professor McGonagall to thank him earnestly, but she felt sorry for his trouble.
Walking out of Professor McGonagall’s office, Sean was also thinking about what gift to buy for her. He was discussing with the two of them when he bumped into Professor Rosier at the corner.
Sean’s eyes lit up, and he stepped forward quickly, “Professor, I was just going to find you. Thank you very much for what happened last time.”
Professor Rosier still had that glamorous look. She glanced at Sean, nodded casually, and said, “It’s okay.”
“Um, thank you.”
Rosier chuckled and leaned into his ear, “Your acting skills are as good as Lord Grindelwald’s. But you are you. He is him. Do what you think is best, and he will contact you when he has something.”
Sean nodded, “Thank you for your reminder, Professor, I understand.”
“Very good.” She raised his brows and walked away.
