Chapter 223: [Bonus Chapter]The Lion's Cage
Larry had been observing Damian for a while using his subordinates, which Damian had noticed, and they had noted down everything he did each day.
It was the same cycle that was easy to copy and the time he would be most vulnerable and they were also less likely to be found taking him down, was during the night when Damian was returning to his residence after training.
Larry had many subordinates who flocked around him in order to benefit from his younger brother's fame, influence, and reputation.
Also, Elder Norris, who was Larry's father, had been promoted due to his youngest son's achievements, potential and talent.
Larry's younger brother had always been the star of the show and despite being older than him, his younger brother treated him coldly and he was shunned to the side by his own younger brother and the rest of his family.
However, his younger brother would look down on him, not because of his talent as a cultivator, but because of his character, that was both cruel and annoying, and also because of the envy, he showed towards him.
Because of that, Larry always felt as though he had no one to please or seek praise from but himself, and used everything at his disposal to establish himself in the Outer Academy and form links with factions.
His ambition was to form a faction of his own filled with strong individuals that would all do his bidding and make it so that he never had to fight again and would never be looked down upon again.
That look of disdain and pity that his small, younger brother would give him always appeared within his mind and infuriated him.
He wanted to crush him just to prove he was the great sibling and to do so, he was patiently and diligently forming contacts.
Larry was quite an intelligent individual and was very similar to Trevor, but he still wasn't someone that Damian respected or recognised as a threat.
Damian's attitude, potential and the way that he looked at him caused Larry to hate him as he reminded him greatly of his brother.
He was an individual that he wanted to crush, and just as Damian left his training, he was greeted by Larry and 5 other students.
They were all Outer Academy Students, but were multiple years older than Damian and were also on par with some Inner Academy Students and were planning on taking part in the examination taking place soon.
"You really do not know your place. Just because you were born talented, you look down on others, but we will see just how talented you are today after we crush you"
Larry's inferiority complex had led him to believe that it was him who was the victim and Damian who was the one looking down on him.
It made it so that Damian couldn't help but be amused by how juxtaposing Larry's actions and beliefs were.
[Well, you came right to me, so it would be a waste not to get what I have been waiting for. I will finally be able to start learning and mastering the use of Wind Energy. After that, out of the 4 base elemental energies, only Water Energy will be left,w which I should be able to master quite easily] thought Damian to himself.
"Why don't we all enter the private training room. It would be a shame if we were interrupted or if we got into trouble due to our encounter"
Hearing what Damian said, Larry and the others with him couldn't help but wonder whether Damian had gone crazy, but it benefitted them, so they had no reason to refuse.
By locking himself in there with them, they believed that Damian had caged himself with a lion, but they had misunderstood who exactly the lion was.
"So, you thought you could get a weapon from here to take us down. You can pick any weapon you want, your fate is still sealed"
"Yeah, and since no noise will leave this private training room, as long as we stand on guard and make sure the door is closed, you will suffer in here"
Damian was caused by their words and threats and as they watched him and laughed, he walked over to the weapon rack just like they had expected him to.
However, the weapons he picked up took them completely by surprise.
They had heard that Damian was very skilled with a bow and seen him have it with him, but they had never heard that he was skilled in the use of blades.
Using blades skillfully required years of practice and experience, and dual-wielding blades was even more difficult.
And yet Damian had the gall to pick up two wooden swords.
"I don't want to hurt you guys too much, so these wooden swords should be enough"
Damian's words struck a nerve, and they all stopped laughing and glared at him angrily.
He was already locked in, alone and outnumbered, and yet he could still act so confidently, calmly and arrogantly.
"That little monkey that is always attached to your shoulder will be mine and you will be beaten to a pulp here"
"We will spare you, but only because we don't want to get into trouble with the academy"
"And you also won't be reporting to the academy who exactly it was that beat you into such a state, as it will only make us repeat the beating a second time"
They wanted Damian to feel despair and fear, and wanted to see him submit and grovel at their feet.
And yet he stood there nonchalantly, seemingly unbothered or fazed by their words.
"Are you done yet? If you can beat me and take the Monkey Beast, do so, but if you are weak, you won't be able to do anything"
"All you guys have done is threaten me with your empty words. No wonder your younger brother is so much greater than you"
Damian's words caused fumes to come out of Larry's ears, and he could no longer hold back his anger.
"Get him," he bellowed as all of his subordinates charged towards Damian at once.
