Chapter 602: Consequences of Teasing_1
Chapter 602: Chapter 602: Consequences of Teasing_1
Wei Ruo and Wei Jinyi walked out together, hand in hand, past the road under construction where laborers hired by Wei Ruo were busily preparing and leveling the ground.
Then, they passed by the renovated orphanage, where the voices of children playing could be heard from within.
At the end of the street, a workshop was under construction. Wei Ruo said it would be used for steelmaking in the future. She had similar workshops in Huzhou Prefecture and the Capital City, and now planned to build a larger one in Jiliao City.
Beyond the city, the two walked on the field ridges, taking in the sight of lush green paddy fields and thriving potato plants.
Nowadays, the people were planting potatoes following Wei Ruo’s lead, but she herself had reserved a piece of land for growing rice.
She wanted to try growing her late rice variety on this black soil, unsure whether it could adapt to the local climate.
If it could adapt, it would mean she could continue to grow rice here in the future.
When there was enough grain for people to eat their fill, Wei Ruo still preferred to grow more rice, because she was more accustomed to having rice and wheat as staples, with potatoes as a dish or occasionally for a change of taste.
All along the way, people seeing Wei Ruo and Wei Jinyi expressed their gratitude with bows, to which Wei Ruo responded with a smile.
Then, avoiding the crowd, the two climbed a small hill.
Jiliao is mainly flat unlike Taizhou prefecture which is full of mountains; there are very few hills here, and those that are, are small, no more than ten or so meters high.
Wei Ruo also made good use of these hills, planting sweet potatoes on them and planting low-lying shrubs to act as windbreaks and retain the soil.
It was now summer, so the barren hills they had first seen upon arriving in Jiliao were now a lush green, brimming with life.
At the top of the hill, they took in the expansive view. The vast earth was all within their gaze.
Everything was moving in a positive direction, and people’s moods were as joyous as the thriving crops on the earth.
After watching for a while, Wei Ruo sat down on the spot.
Wei Jinyi also sat down next to her.
“Second Brother, thank you,” Wei Ruo said to Wei Jinyi.
“Why the sudden thanks?” asked Wei Jinyi.
“Because you gave me an identity that allows me to do what I’m doing now. I knew long ago that, as a woman, it would be difficult in this world to do as I please. What I am doing now would seem like a distant dream to many women living in this world, unacceptable to society and unrecognized by men. But you recognized me and supported me unconditionally,” replied Wei Ruo.
Wei Ruo had said similar things to Wei Jinyi before, but now, looking at the vast expanse of land, she couldn’t help but feel moved to say them again.
After speaking, Wei Ruo smiled at Wei Jinyi.
“Why are you looking at me like that, Ruoruo?” Wei Jinyi asked.
“Because, Second Brother, you are better looking than any view around here.”
“Don’t tease me like that.”
“This isn’t teasing, it’s stating a fact. Besides, what’s wrong with teasing you? Aren’t we husband and wife?”
“Teasing me has serious consequences.” n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
“Hmm? What consequences?”
Wei Ruo laughed lightly, not believing there would be any serious consequences at all.
This overly serious man, even when she pretended to be drunk, only kissed her forehead. She didn’t believe his so-called serious consequences could be that serious.
As she spoke, Wei Ruo reached out and touched Wei Jinyi’s cheek, sighing, “Second Brother, your face is really handsome. When I first saw you, I thought, how can there be such a handsome man in this world?”
Just as Wei Ruo was flippantly flirting with Wei Jinyi, he suddenly moved closer, and before she could react, he kissed her.
Wei Ruo was stunned, only the warm and real touch on her lips reminding her of what had happened.
Second Brother…Second Brother kissed her…
This time it wasn’t on her forehead.
It wasn’t a fleeting peck either.
It was a passionate, domineering, unrestrained, and invasive kiss…
Next, his broad palm moved to her back, offering her a support, then gently lowered her onto the grass.
The man’s sturdy body came closer, leaving no space between their bodies.
His strength was controlled just right. They were tightly but comfortably pressed together – his hand supporting most of his own body weight.
After a long while, the prolonged kiss finally ended.
The entwined bodies separated as well.
Wei Jinyi propped himself up with both hands but didn’t move away, just lying there, watching Wei Ruo.
“This is the serious consequence.”
Wei Ruo opened her eyes, gently licking her lips.
“Seems quite nice, actually.”
Seeing Wei Ruo’s small movement and hearing her words, Wei Jinyi leaned in again.
This time he didn’t kiss her lips, but gently touched her earlobe.
“Speaking like that, I can’t help myself.” His deep magnetic voice sounded in Wei Ruo’s ear.
That voice was so close, the warm breath fluttering against her ear.
“I’m not asking you to resist,” murmured Wei Ruo, a little embarrassed.
Wei Ruo’s words seemed to unlock a gate, and the lips that had just been lightly touching her earlobe suddenly held onto her earlobe.
A tingling sensation spread, and Wei Ruo subconsciously twisted her body.
“Don’t,”Wei Jinyi suddenly stopped and said softly.
“Hmm?” Wei Ruo questioned.
“Don’t move, just like this, hold each other for a while, that’s all.”
Wei Jinyi’s voice was deep and husky, as if he was suppressing something.
Wei Ruo was puzzled for a moment, but then suddenly realized what it was.
They had gone too far.
Wei Ruo didn’t dare to move anymore; she waited quietly.
She looked up at the clear blue sky. Around them were shrubs she had ordered to be planted, providing a good cover for them.
Wei Ruo looked at Wei Jinyi holding her and took the initiative to put her arms around him.
“Ruoruo…”
“I’m not moving, just holding you for a while,” explained Wei Ruo.
After a while, Wei Jinyi let go of Wei Ruo and sat up.
Wei Ruo also got up from the grass and looked at Wei Jinyi sitting beside her.
Seeing him in his white robes, his features as flawless as jade, his expression calm, he looked like a deity beyond reproach and subconsciously mumbled to herself.
Who would have thought, a man who appears so noble and aloof, had just nearly lost control, nearly made love to her here in the wilderness…
Wei Ruo looked at Wei Jinyi and suddenly said, “Second Brother, my courtyard is called Songzhu Garden. It should have both pine and bamboo, but now only has pine and no bamboo. When do you think it will become fitting to its name?”
Wei Jinyi paused, looking at Wei Ruo’s bright eyes; he suddenly remembered when they first arrived here, Wei Ruo had asked him whether the name of her courtyard should be Songzhu Garden or Tingsong Garden.
