The Returner Switches Job To Hunter

Chapter 1 - Prologue

The world had changed.

In Seongnam Pangyo, the D-class gate remained open from 04:00 am until 08:00 am.

The gate opened, and monsters started appearing.

Guilds were competing to observe South Korea's third S-ranked hunter, Seol JiHoon...

Many hunters started to appear, and some of the people became heroes.

The song "Protect My Boyfriend," performed by the group founded by former hunters, Four Girls, has made it to the top of the charts.

Some people thought of the hunters as role models.

"Can we leave everything like this?" Lucky Boy, the smiling hero, crashed into an innocent family while flying with a blood alcohol content of 0.2%.

For some people, they become the object of ridicule.

The number one dream of kids went from being a successful streamer to becoming a hunter. After all, this was the quickest route to fame and riches.

I also dreamed of being a hunter.

"Mr. Kim ChangYeol, you graduated from S University with good grades. Also, you used to be part of the Special Forces while doing military service. Wow! You were an intern at MyongGa Guild? You probably received an offer for a full-time position. Why didn't you accept it? "

"I felt more aligned with the core beliefs of the TooShin Guild. I also think that, in the long term, I have a better chance for growth here" replied Mr. Kim ChangYeol.

"Okay, let's move on. Go HaSol? You know how to speak five languages and have won an amateur championship?!"

So far, the person doing the interviews seems pretty satisfied. But his expression changed when he read the next resume.

"Mr. Lee HyunBin."

'He called my name', I thought. I got nervous because his expression was that of an annoyed person.

"Yes!!"

Judging by the look the interviewer had, he seemed to be having a hard time believing that someone had applied with such an awful resume.

"I'm not going to pass, huh?"

"You dropped out of high school?"

"..."

"You're thirty years old, yet you've never had a proper job. You haven't been an intern for any guild, and you have never had hunter education. There's nothing here. "

The other candidates were trying their best to hold their laughter.

"As an added remark, you've mentioned that you're a returnee who was a hero in another world."

Someone couldn't bear it anymore and just said, "pfft." That chuckle started to sweep through the room. Soon, everyone started laughing at him.

My face turned red. I wanted to speak more confidently, but the only thing I could do was mumble, "I was called to another world while I was in high school. That's why I couldn't graduate."

"Your primary weapon is the Holy Sword Laevatain?"

This guy is talking more loudly than before. He's doing it on purpose, isn't he?

I was trembling because of the shame. But the other interviewees were quivering because they were trying to resist the laughter.

"Ah, yes..."

"Take it out."

"What?"

"The holy sword."

He was staring at me, as if I was someone delusional.

"I've been struggling to make contact with Laevatein in the current era."

While I was trying to explain with a cold sweat, someone laughed out loudly. The interviewer glared at that person. Only then did he cover his mouth and attempt to regain his composure.

When the interviewer noticed my flushed face, he suggested that we all leave.

"I hope you find a way to summon your holy sword."

"Hello! I'm the person in charge of the HR department of the TooShin Guild. First of all, I'd like to thank you for applying. "

"Even though we believe that you have great potential, we cannot ask you to join our forces because we're looking only for a select number of participants."

"Damn." It hadn't been an hour after the interview concluded, that they sent me a message with the results.

I shouldn't have mentioned being a former hero or the holy sword, even though I had included those as the last resort.

"I despise this filthy world. Why do I need a TOEIC score to become a hunter? "

All the guilds stated that the only thing you required was passion in the pre-requisites. But the truth was that they cared more about your education, TOEIC score, and other qualifications.

I just couldn't see why you would even need that kind of stuff to hunt.

I'm thirty years old. Many people would say that I'm still young. But the reality is that attempting to blend into society at this age was quite challenging.

It was especially challenging for me since I had spent all my life in another world.

I didn't have any friends, contacts, or anybody that could aid me.

I was rejected at lightspeed, even though I had bought a suit with some money I didn't even have.

Sigh.

I crossed the hill and proceeded towards my one-room apartment.

As soon as I opened the door, someone dropped the ramyeon.

"Huh?"

A woman with long black hair blinked. She grinned while scooping up the ramyeon she had dropped.

"I only ate one."

I sighed again.

She probably assumed that I was sighing because I was furious with her.

"I really ate only one."

Just by looking behind her, I knew that she had eaten at least three packs of ramyeon. She was walking on eggshells when she decided to rethink her tactics.

Placing her hands on her waist, she said to me in a firm voice,"It's not that I've eaten this because I was hungry. If I want to go back to my original world, I need to regain my mana. And to achieve that, I need to eat a lot. "

"Okay, don't worry. Eat as much as you want. " I said, not wanting to argue with a grown-up lady because of the food. I sat down after pulling out the tie.

"Are you sure? You're not going to regret what you've just said, right? "

She happily started to boil the water and took the ramyeon out of the package.

I couldn't imagine that someone who owned vast lands in another world had gotten addicted to instant food. After all, she was someone who had tasted all types of delicious meals throughout her life.

The reason why she was here with me was simple. Thanks to her, I was able to come back to my original world. But something had happened.

Investigators haven't been able to find an explanation for the question of why the mysterious island suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

The government has requested the Chinese and Japanese governments' cooperation.

Slurppp

She was eating ramyeon while watching the news.

Crunch

And, of course, she didn't forget about the yellow radish either.

"Hey, old man. The news is just too dull. Change the channel to the comedy one. "

"..."

"The news isn't fun."

"Let's forget that the news isn't fun. That story is about your locality. You should be more interested in it! "

I sighed once again.
