The Substitute Female Supporting Character Sees the Bullet Screen

Chapter 50

“Is this place safe?” Nie Yinzhi asked out of the blue.

Gu Jiang didn’t know why she suddenly asked this, but he let out a light scoff. “With me here, what place isn’t safe?”

Nie Yinzhi’s fingertips brushed against his cheek, sliding from his thick eyebrows to the corner of his eye, lingering on the small mole near his ear. Her gaze drifted to his jaw as she spoke casually, “What I mean is… if I were to seal some of your senses here…”

Gu Jiang didn’t respond, his breathing grew lighter, but his Adam’s apple bobbed slightly.

It seemed he still remembered that time when she had sealed his senses, leaving only his sense of touch heightened to its limit. Back then, she had only wanted to test a derivative technique of the Symbiosis Curse and play a little prank on the infamous demon lord. She hadn’t paid much attention to his reaction at the time.

Nie Yinzhi suddenly recalled an important detail. Back then, in his excitement, Gu Jiang had shattered a layer of the sealing array on Pill-Forming Peak. Her spirits sank at the thought. “Ah, no. If it’s too intense, what if you end up breaking the Demon Sealing Mark on your head again?”

Her pale fingertips slid from his ear to the prominent Adam’s apple. Nie Yinzhi couldn’t resist asking, “Brother, if I’m gentle and not as reckless as before, would it be okay? If it’s too much for you…”

She paused, her eyes lighting up as her long lashes fluttered like wings. “I can use empathy. That way, I’ll be able to sense your emotions in time and control…”

Gu Jiang had been watching her intently. When Nie Yinzhi’s gaze met his, her face flushed crimson. When she wasn’t looking at him, she could say anything boldly, but the moment their eyes met, her words became muffled behind her lips.

Gu Jiang’s gaze was as clear as a still lake, without a single ripple.

All the courage she had mustered earlier evaporated in the heat of her embarrassment. Nie Yinzhi’s body felt warm, but her heart cooled. She wriggled out of Gu Jiang’s embrace, turned her back to him, and burrowed into the blanket, wrapping herself tightly, choosing to play dead.

But then, a pair of arms wrapped around her, blanket and all. Gu Jiang dug a hole in the blanket to let her breathe, chuckled, and said in a gentle tone, “It’s fine. Do as you like.”

Nie Yinzhi hesitated for a moment, then decided to roll up her sleeves and go for it! After all, she was facing away from Gu Jiang and couldn’t see him. She whispered, “Then I won’t seal your senses for now.”Nôv(el)B\\jnn

She squirmed under the blanket, but Gu Jiang showed no intention of letting go. Nie Yinzhi settled down, her hands forming a seal under the blanket to summon the golden sprout from the curse mark, groping blindly.

The sprout only had one leaf. After feeling around for a while, there was no reaction from behind her, not even a noticeable breath. Nie Yinzhi grew uncertain and called softly, “Gu Jiang?”

“Hmm.” Gu Jiang responded with a drawn-out hum from his nose. The tone was different from his usual lazy drawl—it was like a tiny hook that burrowed into Nie Yinzhi’s heart, teasing her relentlessly.

“Then I’ll activate the empathy?” Nie Yinzhi swallowed and waited for Gu Jiang’s response before silently reciting the incantation to activate the empathy.

A sense of oppressive divine might rushed over her first, clearing up the fog in Nie Yinzhi’s mind. Beneath that pressure was a faint hint of pleasure.

This wasn’t going to work.

Nie Yinzhi bit her lip, informed him, and then sealed Gu Jiang’s vision. She said, “Turn me around.”

After a moment of hesitation, the person behind her flipped her over, but still kept her tightly wrapped in the blanket, as if afraid she might do something to him.

Nie Yinzhi struggled to wiggle closer to him under the blanket, exhaling softly against his lips. “You haven’t kissed me today.”

Gu Jiang blinked. With his vision sealed, his eyes were unfocused, looking almost helplessly dazed. He obediently lowered his head and captured her lips.

Nie Yinzhi actively probed with her tongue, and the oppressive feeling from the leaf instantly dissipated. In the midst of their kiss, she mumbled, “Until the empathy breaks, you have to…”

Gu Jiang silenced her with his lips, humming in agreement through his nose. Even with Nie Yinzhi wrapped in the blanket, his senses were filled with her fragrance. His lips and tongue were occasionally brushed by hers.

Nie Yinzhi carefully heightened his sense of touch. Her actions were immediately reflected in the curse mark on her wrist, which Nie Yinzhi found fascinating.

So this is how it works.

She was only touching the golden leaf floating on her wrist, but the sensation was projected onto him, spreading to different areas, unpredictably even for the two of them.

Nie Yinzhi suddenly stopped moving. Gu Jiang’s eyes twitched, his brows furrowing in confusion. With his vision sealed, he couldn’t see anything, so he tilted his head slightly, trying to listen for her voice. “Hmm? What’s wrong?”

As he spoke, Nie Yinzhi gripped the curse mark on her wrist again, her palm covering the golden sprout.

Gu Jiang froze, his cheek pressed against hers, and let out a sharp inhale.

Gu Jiang’s emotions flowed through the leaf, the oppressive divine might fading away, leaving the sensations beneath even more vivid.

Nie Yinzhi was stifled under the blanket, her back sweating from the heat. Through this derivative technique of the Symbiosis Curse, she could sense that Gu Jiang wasn’t feeling too comfortable right now.

“Gu Jiang, are you in pain?” Nie Yinzhi asked dizzily, trying to break free to check on him, but Gu Jiang held her even tighter, not allowing her to emerge from the blanket.

Gu Jiang’s voice was hoarse. “No, it’s not that.”

Nie Yinzhi was burning up. Gu Jiang held her too tightly, half of his body pressing heavily on hers through the blanket. From his emotions, she sensed that he was trying to suppress the discomfort. The sensation from her touch on the leaf troubled him, but he didn’t want her to stop. It just wasn’t enough.

To dispel the divine might, Gu Jiang would occasionally kiss her softly. Their noses were pressed tightly together, their breaths mingling.

Nie Yinzhi glanced up at the barrage of comments exploding above her and weakly flicked a wisp of spiritual energy, causing the bed curtains to fall.

Layer upon layer of thin gauze draped down, blocking everything from view. [Really, nothing happened.]

The relentless comments pierced through the bed curtains. [The female lead is wrapped in the blanket, the male lead is outside the blanket, there’s no way for physical contact. The female lead only has her head sticking out, everything is neck-up, just kissing, please!]

[Even so, it’s like two cats grooming each other, no wonder they didn’t cut the scene.]

[It’s literally just cute cats grooming each other, crying.]

[LOL, so true! My two cats groom each other like this! Grooming and purring, can the demon lord and the enchantress even compare? Even cats look down on you.]

[Thanks, I’m already using this as a substitute for cat videos.]

[Ugh, who can resist cats?]

[Why even bother thinking of a solution, my silly child? I’m so anxious watching this.]

[Well, I don’t know what to say, so I’ll just wish everyone a happy Qixi Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, New Year’s Day, and New Year in advance.]

[The demon lord’s expression is so innocent, they’re both so good at this, wuwu.]

[Ahhh why won’t they let me see! I hate Nie Yinzhi!]

[Pfft, what’s there to see? The blanket’s wrapped so tightly, it’s all bark and no bite.]

[Even if we can’t see, at least let us hear something! Why did they pull the camera back?]

[I don’t want to leave! Don’t cut the scene, wuwuwu, what can’t we VIPs see????]

[I think cutting away is the standard procedure.]

The comments gradually faded. Nie Yinzhi was distracted for a moment, struggling to free her hand from the edge of the blanket wrapped around her neck.

The golden sprout on the curse mark was bent under pressure. As her wrist emerged from the blanket, it bumped against Gu Jiang’s chin. [The female lead is completely wrapped in the blanket, only her head is sticking out, nothing happened orz.]

Through the curse mark, Nie Yinzhi sensed something and instinctively raised her wrist. Gu Jiang, with his vision sealed, was unaware, his eyes unfocused as he leaned toward the golden leaf, seeking her lips.

The intensity of his emotions surged into Nie Yinzhi’s heart, bringing tears to her eyes.

Her mind buzzed, feeling as if she had been swept to the crest of a wave by a tidal surge, only to plummet into the depths of the ocean. The emotions flowing through the curse mark also blanked out for a moment, as if suddenly cut off.

The intertwining black and red demonic energy surged out from beneath the bed curtains, only to be forcefully suppressed within the room, lingering like mist on the ground for a moment before being drawn back in.

A wisp of uncontrollable demonic energy escaped, drawn by the light of the Demon Sealing Mark, and surged upward toward the sky.

The figure sitting in the central tower sensed something and appeared on the balcony in an instant. With a flick of his finger, Feng Hanying caught the dark red demonic energy before it could be dissolved by the Demon Sealing Mark.

"Stray Blood Moon Shadow," Feng Hanying muttered, his fingers tightening as his expression darkened. Could it be that Gu Jiang was losing control of his demonic energy?

This meant that the Blood Moon Shadow was no longer his alone. Like the other four demonic energies in the Ten Thousand Demons Cave, anyone could lay claim to it now.

Feng Hanying paced back and forth on the balcony, his agitation growing. A small black snake darted out from his sleeve, vanishing into the void. It reappeared outside the courtyard in Molten Gold City, its tail flicking as it shot toward the yard. In an instant, it was struck back by a sharp wind blade.

Meanwhile, Nie Yinzhi lay curled up in the bed, too exhausted to move. Gu Jiang lay beside her, equally still. A small golden leaf on her wrist swayed vibrantly, full of life.

Nie Yinzhi was drenched in sweat, as if she had been pulled from water, her body aching and uncomfortable.

When she finally calmed down, she weakly moved her limbs beneath the covers. Gu Jiang immediately released her, and Nie Yinzhi whispered softly in his ear, "I need to bathe."

Gu Jiang gently stroked the back of her neck and said in a low voice, "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize. It was... exhilarating," Nie Yinzhi replied, planting a kiss on his unfocused eyes. She slipped past him and headed toward the bath, hiding in the bathroom to rub her flushed cheeks as she tried to calm herself. After a moment, she released the visual seal on Gu Jiang.

By the time light flooded his vision, Nie Yinzhi was already out of sight.

However, their emotional connection remained intact. While his emotions had been pouring out earlier, now it felt like a river flowing back, with Nie Yinzhi's emotions flooding into his heart.

Warm and light, he couldn't feel love, but he could sense her overwhelming joy, filling his heart to the brim. Even an iceberg would have melted under such warmth.

Gu Jiang rolled over and hugged the empty bedding, a smile tugging at his lips as he chuckled softly, moved by the emotions that now filled him.
