Then, Let Them Offer Their Loyalty!

Chapter 35: Security Division

Chapter 35: Security Division

New Realm City is a newly established planning area by the Eighth Shelter over the past two years.

Material life is scarce, living conditions are poor, and many basic facilities are still being cleared and rebuilt.

However, several large hotels and restaurants were established early on.

After all, no matter how bad the lives of the lower levels are, the upper echelons still need to eat, drink, and enjoy life.

As Qiu Tu walked into the Milan Hotel, he felt as if he had traveled through time.

If he didn’t know he was still in a post-apocalyptic world, he might have thought he was back on Earth, entering a high-end four-star hotel.

Tall ceilings with large crystal chandeliers, high-quality marble floors, elaborately decorated walls with carvings or paintings, and even luxurious sofa sets in the lounge area.

Although such high-end hotels typically only hosted wealthy merchants and officials from the shelter, the living environment was so good it seemed almost excessive.

Without acting like a country bumpkin, Qiu Tu naturally walked to the lounge area, ordered a cup of tea, and patiently waited.

He didn’t have to wait long. At 7:20 PM, forty minutes before the scheduled meeting, a hotel staff member approached him, bowing slightly and handing him an envelope.

“Sir, this is from your friend,” the staff member said respectfully.

“My friend?” Qiu Tu looked around but saw no one suspicious.

He took the envelope, which felt light as if it contained nothing.

After the staff left, Qiu Tu opened the envelope to find a room key card for Room 416.

Playing with the key card, Qiu Tu’s eyes twinkled with amusement.

After finishing his tea, he picked up the key card and headed towards the elevator.

He pressed the elevator button, and soon the doors opened.

As he ascended, Qiu Tu felt for the gun at his waist, ensuring it was ready. He had checked the handgun before leaving, setting it to standby and disengaging the safety.

This would allow him to shoot immediately if faced with danger.

The elevator rose steadily and soon stopped on the fourth floor.

As the doors opened, Qiu Tu cautiously observed the situation outside before stepping out.

Given New Realm City’s recent establishment and poor business environment, the hotel’s occupancy rate was low.

Qiu Tu encountered no other guests as he walked to Room 416.

At the room door, Qiu Tu knocked lightly but received no response.

Hesitating briefly, he swiped the key card.

Hearing the door lock click open, Qiu Tu didn’t enter immediately.

He waited for two seconds, then pushed the door open forcefully, making a loud bang as it hit the wall. He swiftly moved to the side.

After a few more seconds, he entered the room with his gun drawn, checking each area until he confirmed it was empty except for a young man in civilian clothes with a square face standing by the window.

Sensing Qiu Tu’s caution, the young man raised his hands.

Qiu Tu entered the room, closed the door, and after confirming the man was alone, holstered his gun and said, “Sorry, can’t be too careful.”

The young man nodded, “Understood. I’d be cautious too if meeting a stranger.”

“After all, our line of work involves constant danger.”

He took out an ID and showed it to Qiu Tu. “Hello, Agent Qiu. I’m Lin Zuo, Deputy Chief of the Detection Office the Security Division.”

“The reason for inviting you here is to seek your cooperation in our work.”

Hearing Lin Zuo’s introduction, Qiu Tu’s pupils slightly contracted.

Security Division?

If it were the old Qiu Tu, he would have been clueless about this department, as it wasn’t well-known.

However, spending time with Shen Lingshuang had provided Qiu Tu with many insights, including information about the Security Division.

The Security Division, or the Security and Secret Investigation Division, is a confidential military department.

Its main tasks are to combat anti-government forces and handle crisis events.

More importantly, it deals with secret affairs related to Cataclysm Awakening.

According to Shen Lingshuang, this department consists entirely of elites, many of whom are Cataclysm Awakened.

Members are selected from the shelter, not recruited from planning areas, making them the most powerful force among the various departments.

But why would such a powerful department seek him out?

Was it the commotion he caused attracting their attention? Or was Qin Shuman linked to this department?

With these thoughts, Qiu Tu probed, “What assistance do you need from me, Chief Lin? And why me?”

Lin Zuo responded, “We’ve been monitoring key members of the Qin family for the past six months.”

“When the RUF attacked you and Qin Shuman, we began watching you too.”

“Later, we noticed the Investigation Department seemed to be investigating the Qin family, even assigning you to the Political Division for this task, making us hesitant to approach you.”

“Yesterday, your public deployment of a Political Division team to the Qin family made us think the situation was getting out of control, prompting us to contact you urgently.”

“This meeting aims to align our efforts, exchange information, and coordinate our work to prevent mutual interference and mission failure.”

Lin Zuo’s explanation was reasonable, with no apparent flaws, but Qiu Tu remained skeptical.

He probed further, “Chief Lin, your detailed knowledge of the Qin family suggests you have an informant there?”

Lin Zuo’s expression remained unchanged, “Sorry, Agent Qiu. That’s classified. I can’t disclose it.”

Qiu Tu wasn’t offended, his mind racing, “Fine, I won’t ask about that. Let’s establish a foundation for our cooperation.”

“I remember you mentioned having information that might interest me. Can you tell me what you think that is?”
