This Beast-Tamer is a Little Strange

Chapter 277 The Battle of the Strongest (3)

Ezra's Void Lynx, still reeling from its near-death encounter with the taotie's digestive system, staggered to its feet, its shimmering eyes flicking back and forth as it struggled to shake off the lingering effects of the Nightmare Dragon's mental attack.

The Lynx's form flickered in and out of space, its movements unsteady and disjointed, as if it were trying to regain its bearings after being pushed to the brink of collapse.

Meanwhile, the Dream Dragon, having been brought crashing down to the stage by the gravitational force of the Gravitoise, had regained its composure after realizing that it wouldn't be able to take off again as long as the Gravitoise was around—better to get rid of it than keep futilely trying to fly.

The previously calm and dreamy multicoloured eyes now took on a sharp quality as they turned to the giant tortoise.

However, Ezra's other contracts wouldn't let it easy attack the Gravitoise.

Due to its currently massive size, the Magnimorph Snake would be even more heavily impacted by the higher gravity in the area with the Dream Dragon, and if it were to instead reduce its size it would also be reducing its threat-level. Therefore, the snake stayed far from the area and instead left the Dream Dragon to the tortoise and taotie duo who were the most used to working together.

Perhaps due to both having a relaxed, sloth-like and gluttonous nature that preferred to have their large amounts of food sucked towards themselves using their respective powers. They also happened to be Ezra's two most recent contracts.

Therefore, they very naturally developed a close relationship and their pairing was even affectionately coined T-Squared by Oliver, a name that stuck once it was found that their combination was more than just the sum of their respective powers—the boost they provided to each other's abilities was closer to multiplication.

Kain had learned on Earth that gravity was able to affect time. However, the strength of the Gravitoise isn't quite enough to achieve that effect on its own, but when combined with the Taotie who has a very similar ability, suddenly a time dilation effect significant enough to make a difference in battle is achieved.

Suddenly, from the audience's perspective a portion of the arena seemed to be in a completely different world—one in which everything moved at half of the speed.

Every little blink and movement of the Gravitoise, Taotie, and Dream dragon had slowed to a snails pace.

Although, from the perspective of the 3 in the time dilation zone, everyone else in the arena suddenly became much faster.

Sensing something wrong, the Dream Dragon attempted to decrease the effects of the gravity on it by becoming smaller. However, the taotie wasn't only able to decrease the size of targets, it could increase them as well. Therefore, an interesting phenomenon was occurring in which the audience was watching the Dream dragon slowly decrease and expand in size repeatedly.

At the same time, while the Gravitoise was maintaining an even stronger gravitational field with the help of the taotie, the taotie opened its mouth and also began to slowly draw the dragon toward it.

Although it knew that it would eventually be spat out and not digested, due to this being a competition, thinking of the disgusting situation that the Void Lynx had been in, made the elegant Dream Dragon who loved cleanliness shudder in disgust—Absolutely not! Never!

The Dream Dragon stopped resisting the pull and decided to use one of its abilities to bring dreams into the real-world by conjuring some helpers.

The strength of the creatures conjured by the Dream Dragon could vary greatly, depending on the template they are basing the summon on. How much of the template creature's strength and abilities can be channelled was dependent on various factors.

Firstly, naturally the strength of the template can't exceed the Dream Dragon's by too much. If the template is too strong then it's more likely to end up making a paper tiger that looks ferocious and powerful but has no real strength.

Secondly, the Dream dragon's understanding of the template will allow it to make a more realistic summon of it. Therefore, a high-quality and powerful summon won't be achieved just off of a textbook description—the best objects for templates are creatures it knows and has interacted with many times.

Prior to being contracted by Cassian, the Dream dragon drifted mostly in the dream realm, hopping from one person's dream to another. Therefore, the types of spiritual creatures it could come into contact with was limited.

However, its current allies were no weaker, and possibly even slightly stronger, than itself. Therefore, the amount of energy it would take to create a summon based off of them would be immense and may not even have half of their strength.

Therefore, the Dream dragon chose to summon one of the few creatures it had become intimately connected with while traversing the world of dreams—Dream Sirens.

Similar to Dream Dragons, they mostly choose to live in the dream realm and feed on dreams. They also have an instinctive worship for Dream Dragons and will follow them around in the dream realm to sing passionate hymns about the glory of the great Dream Dragon—particularly about its majestic power, incredible wisdom, and transcendent strength.

Honestly, being followed around and praised by these noisy little fans had actually annoyed and embarrassed the Dream Dragon greatly and so it wasn't even resistant to forming a contract with a young human when captured by that powerful woman back then.

However, due to the many years of being followed around by these loud groupies, they were undoubtedly the spiritual creatures it was most familiar with—even more familiar than its current allies. And it just so happened that their abilities were perfectly suited for its current predicament…

The Gravitoise and Taotie were working together to create an environment that was advantageous to them, it was time to change the battlefield to its own home court!
