Chapter 1896 Aftermath [4]
Chapter 1896 Aftermath [4]
When he first came to the Void, Damien did something similar. He made some changes to the timeline to set the path he'd followed in stone, and in the process, he questioned who was leading him along his path the entire time.
He did not have to look any further for the answer, for he himself was it.
Damien saw now even that moment. He could even change it if he pleased. There were no longer restrictions, so if he wanted to, he could alter anything and everything to turn his path into something else. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
His history was whatever he wanted it to be. This was what the Dark God was aiming for.
'But, he would not have reached his goals.'
Damien had no desire to, but he could feel in his soul that bringing the Worldwalker back was impossible. As he sacrificed himself and became one with the Void, he was no more than its energy and essence. He truly did not exist and could not exist. That was the eternal price he paid to save his people.
Damien didn't want to bring anyone back. Instead, he just wanted to do the same thing he did before.
He became the guiding voice in his own life. Above Dante, above the former version of himself, he was the overarching cause for his own fortune.
Such a change was quite literally impossible to make. Damien essentially confirmed his path. Now, regardless of what happened, he was always fated to become Absolute. Nothing and nobody could stand in his way.
Hell, in this place where time was irrelevant, he supported his own comprehension of the Void so he was able to save the cosmos before they were destroyed.
It felt a bit unfair to the Dark God, but he was fated to lose from the beginning. Now that Damien was here, it could be said that he was bound to be here from the moment he was born. He was a truly immortalized existence.
What else was there to change?
'I usually maintain an attitude of selflessness in that I will not selfishly influence matters for my own benefit, however…'
The lives of other people? Maybe, but he didn't know if he wanted to.
At most, he was willing to create a smoother path for his wives and friends to reach their goals.
'I usually maintain an attitude of selflessness in that I will not selfishly influence matters for my own benefit, however…'
There were no longer consequences to his actions. Perhaps it was unfair to others that he was exclusively giving this treatment to his own people, but that was his right.
He made it all the way here so they could all live the lives they wanted. He would not succumb to indifference and refuse to aid them now.
After taking care of everything, he once again put away the painting of life. He focused on the Void itself, prepared for his main project.
He closed his eyes and focused. The Void constricted around him and a decent amount of space was made between himself and the cosmos he was watching.
In his new position, the laws within the Void began to merge and order themselves.
Existence and Nonexistence became prominent. They were in their inherent forms at first, but as Damien's influence spread through the Void, they started to take shape as the concepts he'd worked so hard to mold.
With those two at his side, he could finally begin.
A shining light was created in the Void. It was a massive ball of energy that exploded and became immaterial. Its essence acted as its core, and the ends its energy reached served as its borders.
A thin separation was made as the energy turned into space and time. Creation and Destruction allowed it before entering that new area of spacetime to weave the fabric of reality.
He swept his hand and altered the flow of time to let billions of years flow by. Worlds and universes were created and filled with life. The cosmos developed its own "history" that was entirely unrelated to Damien.
A brand new cosmos was appearing in the Void. It was a cosmos like no other, because it was the only cosmos in existence that had been intentionally created by a single being.
And naturally, it was made to that being's preferences.
The laws of this cosmos allowed its people to perceive Damien. It allowed him to live without twisting the very fabric of reality.
He swept his hand and altered the flow of time to let billions of years flow by. Worlds and universes were created and filled with life. The cosmos developed its own "history" that was entirely unrelated to Damien.
He entered that cosmos and chose a world, a world awfully similar to Earth, to call his home.
With that, there was only one thing left to do.
***
There was definitely a commotion in the cosmos after Damien left.
His presence disappearing was felt by many people, but it was different from death. They did not panic, but they were forced to marvel when they saw what was happening around them.
The changes Damien made were immediately reflected. The new appearance of the True Void Universe was a sight to behold, but most people attributed it to the strange wave of energy that spread as a result of the great war.
Only a few people were able to attribute this phenomenon to Damien, and those few were the ones who worried.
They only hoped that he was not overexerting himself to use power at such a high level. They understood that he had reached a stage they couldn't fathom, but did that change anything?
They wanted to see him, and they wanted to celebrate the lives they'd earned themselves.
It was to those people that the invitation came.
Through a notification window like those from the system, they received a question with very simple answers.
[Damien Void is inviting you to a new world. Would you like to go?]
Though the message was simple, the context was engraved in their minds as they read it.
Damien could no longer exist here, so he had to live somewhere else. He wanted them to live in that place with him, but it was up to them whether they made the choice or not.
There wasn't any pressure on them. In the end, the new world would be connected to the True Void Universe, so anyone who did not move could visit at any time. Damien was the only one restricted.
Still, it wasn't hard for anyone to make the choice.
Hundreds of fingers moved forward to press the window that said, "Yes."
And though it wasn't a surprise, among them were his wives.
Unlike the rest, when they appeared in the new world, they stood in front of a house.
It wasn't too big or too small. The best way to describe it was "ordinary."
It was a house like that of any upper-middle-class family.
In front of it stood the man they came to see.
Everything was over now.
Their stories were reaching their close.
Wasn't it about time for them to start working on the things they'd promised themselves?
It had been a long time since Damien had peace, but there were many things that he'd denied himself, waiting for this very moment to come.
Now that it was here, he wanted to start making progress on those things.
"We have all the time in the world now, so…"
He looked at them with a smile.
They looked at him with varying expressions. Rose and Elena matched his smile, Ruyue looked at him with warm eyes, and Iris rolled hers with an expression that couldn't hide her happiness. Regardless of what they'd been doing or what they wanted to do, all of it could wait.
They were all together, and as Damien said, they had all the time in the world.
So…
"...those promises we made, let's fulfill them. All of them, one at a time."
