Chapter 137: New skill: Unlocked
Wistoria waited till they were done with their meal and stepped out of the restaurant; only once they stepped out of the small building, she asked Damien, "Why did you ask that man to go and get himself checked by a healer? Are you not confident in yourself?"
"If I wasn't confident, do you think I would have saved him just now?" Damien was amused when he heard the words of the woman walking beside him. He then said to her, "There are some things that the man wouldn't believe unless a healer says to him; that's why I asked him to go and visit a temple."
"Such as?"
"Such as," Damien lowered his voice and replied, "Syphilis, or Philoid."
As soon as Damien finished speaking, Wistoria couldn't help but step away from him. She looked at the man as if he had gone crazy.
"And you touched him? You knew that he was suffering from philoid, and you touched him..you even—" She closed her eyes when she thought about how Damien had used his mouth to blow in the mouth of that man.
Was he trying to kill himself?
"There is no need to look at me like that," Damien laughed lightly. "Syphilis is not a communicable disease."
"But–"
"I know what you are going to say. You want to tell me that beastmen who often come in contact with beastmen suffering from philoid end up catching it, right?" He knew what was going on in her head without even giving it a second thought.
Wistoria nodded, and Damien motioned for her to get closer.
When the woman leaned in close, he placed his mouth as close as possible to her ear and whispered, "That's because those idiots slept with one another. Only after getting involved in sexual activities can this disease be transmitted."
"I believe those beastmen who spread the word that syphilis was a communicable disease were worried that others would know that they had gotten way too chummy with the carrier of the bacteria that they spread this matter. Thus, they made a rumour and told everyone that it was a communicable disease."
"You mean to say that simply touching a person infected with this disease will not harm anyone?" Wistoria asked with a furrow.
"Of course not," Damien shook his head as he entered the mansion. "A person with this disease can live as a normal person as long as he or she doesn't involve themselves in things that they should not do or take medicine."
"They only need to take care of some careful measures, and everything will be fine."
As he walked to his room, he turned to Wistoria and said to her casually, "Being sick is not a sin. I believe that ostracising someone just because they are sick and suffering is not the right thing to do."
He turned to climb up the stairs and commented lightly, "But of course that is my own judgement."
Wistoria watched the man step inside the room.
"So you can also judge right from wrong?"
Inside his room, Damien was lying in his bed. He was looking at the dragon scale and wondering how to collect the rest of the energy that was stored within it. He knew that compared to the rest of the beastmen, he was like a toddler who had just started learning how to walk.
With the difference between him and them, he had to buck up and pick up his pace. But how? He was not even close to getting a breakthrough.
What was more—
He raised his head and looked at the notification screen. He didn't know how it happened, but after he got his hands on this dragon scale, he saw that there was another task bar that opened at the very end of the screen.
[Special Reward.]
Damien asked Dan about this new addition, and his AI system explained to him that it wasn't too big of a surprise. This system was created through the mana of the predecessor; thus, as long as his mana increased, there were a lot of skills that he could activate.
Damien did not know what these skills were, but he was quite eager to unlock them.
But for that, he had to infuse this mana inside the dragon scale within his body.
While he was wondering what to do with the dragon scale, Damien fell asleep. The dragon scale in his hand glowed with a brilliant golden glow in the dark room.

"What the—" Damien awoke to a great surprise the next day. He looked at the dragon scale that was one fourth empty and felt the surge of mana within his body.
[Skill unlocked: Lucky Wheel.]
Not only did he unlock a new skill, but Damien also realised that he had actually found the link that he couldn't find while fending off the beastmen yesterday. It was rather weak, but Damien still recognised it.
He looked at Claw, who was pruning his wings, and clenched his fingers before the words flashed in his mind.

The absorption of the mana had allowed Damien to fuse his skills and powers together with Claw. Though it was a bit weak and only a D-grade skill, Damien knew that it was better than nothing.
At least this was a start.
"Now this is great. It looks like this dragon scale seems to have an affinity with my mana. I didn't even have to do anything, but it was still absorbed," Damien clenched and unclenched his fingers before turning to look at Claw. "Do you feel any different?"
[I feel the same, just a bit more powerful.]
As the eagle spoke, it raised his head and looked at Damien with a haughty look.
Damien did not know whether it was his eyes that were playing tricks on him or if that was really the case, but Claw seemed to be bigger and mightier.
"You look powerful as well," Damien stated with a chuckle. He then slid down the bed and said to his contracted beast, "Lets go and try this new skill."
