Chapter 155: Stepping up
"Useless Bastard!" Julian scolded the healer, who knelt on the ground almost immediately. At that moment, even the healer felt regretful. He took over this task because he wished to climb up the ranks and become a formidable healer.
But this task that he took turned out to be much more difficult than he expected.
"My lord, calm down." One of the beastmen stepped forward and said to Julian, "Even though you are angry, you need to control your temper. This healer was appointed by the head priest of the temple; if you were to kill him, then the temple will try to make things difficult for us."
Julian snorted. If possible, he wished to decapitate this healer and send his body back to the temple. But he had a sneaking suspicion that if he did that, then things might become even more problematic for the Patterson family. Thus, he could only reign in control of his temper.
"Lets go," he released a heavy sigh and turned on his feet before heading to the camp. Behind him, the healer heaved a sigh of relief. For a second, he thought that he was going to die.
"You should remain low for a few days," stated an owl beastman with an annoyed expression. "Don't go prancing around in front of Lord Julian."
"Yes," the healer lowered his head and agreed. However, inwardly, he felt furious. He might be a low-ranking healer but he was still a member of the temple. How could they treat him like such?
The healer paid attention to the actions and words of the owl beastmen and swore to relay the same to the high priest upon his return.
"Call healer Carl," commanded Julian with a scowl. "Tell him that the healer he sent is not up to mark and cannot save Jami. Is the temple going to watch a hero die just like that?"
Jami was not only his uncle but also the vice general and a talented beast-man who had a bright future in front of him. If not for the sneak attack by that beast, Jami would have never fallen like this.
He glanced at his uncle, whose breathing was getting shallower by the minute. It seemed like it was too late.
The group arrived at the camp, and as soon as Julian arrived at the camp, they noticed that the soldiers in the camp were unusually agitated. They were crowding at the flap of the tent where they had placed the soldiers, who had no chance at survival.
When Julian saw them crowding the tent, he couldn't help but frown.
What were they doing? They were in the middle of an attack. No matter how many soldiers died, did they think that they had the time to waste like this? Even he didn't have the time to grieve, how could these soldiers let go of their emotions like this? Was this what he taught them?
"Have you all lost your mind?!" Julian shouted. His booming voice echoed in the surroundings. "What are you doing? Do you think that we have the time to grieve like this when we are under attack? The beasts might have retreated, but they will soon attack again."
His voice startled the soldiers. They all jumped up three feet in the air and turned to look at Julian. One of the high-ranking soldiers rushed to where Julian was standing.
"What are you doing? Why did you not stop them from crowding here like this?" said Julian with an annoyed expression on his face.
"L–Lord Julian?"
The high-ranking soldier immediately came to a stop in front of Julian before relaying, "Its not that. No one is grieving here."
"Then why are you crowding this tent?"
"Its the healer—no, the doctor. The healers brought a doctor with them and this man can actually save those soldiers whose internal organs were bleeding. We were just watching this miraculous doctor who can save soldiers who almost died and that too without using magic!"
"He saved six men who were pierced by procupine needles. And now he is on the seventh one."
"A doctor, you mean—"
'According to rumours, they say that there was a man who saved that man without using any magical spells.'
That man—was he here?
If what these soldiers said was true, then that man can also save Jami.

Julian turned to look at the people behind him. He said to the beastman who was carrying Jami, "Bring Uncle Jami to the tent as quickly as possible. Be quick; there is no time to waste."
Since the healers at the temple didn't care about the lives and deaths of his soldiers, he wouldn't necessarily lower his head in front of them either.
The healer who was following Julian was stupefied. What did this fool say? That there was someone who saved the lives of the soldiers who were pierced and attacked by the procupine beast's needles?
How could there be such a possibility? And even if there was such a healer—why wasn't he at the temple?
He stepped forward wanting to take a look at this man but was stopped by Julian.
"What are you doing?" Julian said to the healer. He glanced at the healer contemptuously before saying to him, "Since you cannot save the life of my uncle, there is no need for you to stay here."
"Come someone bring this healer back to the temple."
"No—" The healer wished to refuse but he was dragged away by the rest of the beast men. They were after all just as dissatisfied with this healer as Julian.
Once the healer was pulled away, Julian turned to look at the tent and strode inside.
Ignoring the scent of blood that was so overwhelming that it was nearly making it impossible for him to breathe, he stepped inside and called, "Is anyone here? There is an emergency."
Damien frowned and raised his head to look behind him.
Who was this man? Why was he interrupting him?
