Chapter 712 - An Eye for an Eye (3)
Tang Moyu shut her eyes as she sat behind the desk of their study. The only thing she could hear was the ticking sound coming from the clock and the typing sound as Feng Tianyi worked over his laptop, writing his manuscript while their children were homeschooled at the moment.
Feng Tianyi glanced at his wife over his laptop and saw that her complexion had become better compared to the day she'd come home with him from the hospital. Tang Moyu refused to be bound to a wheelchair for too long and requested to start physical therapy as soon as possible.
Now, they only needed to wait for her shoulder and arm to fully recover before she could come back to work. Feng Tianyi understood well that having her work delivered to their home wasn't enough for Tang Moyu.
"Are you sure it's alright for Baobao and Little Star to attend school again?" He asked, making Tang Moyu crack an eye open before shutting it once again.
"It's fine. It's not like I want them to be in danger, but we shouldn't cage ourselves and let the perpetrator take reign on how we should live our lives." Tang Moyu said.
She refused to live in fear, but more than ever, her drive to protect her loved ones was fiercer than ever. She and Feng Tianyi had decided to increase their security to make sure that what happened to Tang Beixuan wouldn't happen again.
Since she survived from the accident, it only made sense that whoever the perpetrator was would decide to lie low to protect himself, but she and Feng Tianyi couldn't waste time to hunt him down.
"Zhang Jiren sent me the cctv recording from their company. Do you want to check it with me?' Feng Tianyi offered.
That instantly took the empress's attention as she stood up from her seat, rounded the desk and sat next to her husband.
"Did you ask him for this?" She questioned him.
"En, and he agreed to cooperate with us." Feng Tianyi said as he opened the file containing the recording on his laptop.
"But why?" The empress furrowed her brows.
Even though Zhang Jiren was her twin brother, how can Feng Tianyi believe a man raised as a Zhang at all? Shouldn't they be wary of what his motives are? Tang Moyu believed that the man was still keeping information from her and Feng Tianyi.
"What do you mean why?" Feng Tianyi answered her with another question, but the look she had on her face was already a give away; she didn't trust Zhang Jiren at all.
"Because he's a Zhang, Tianyi." She said warily. She didn't deem Zhang Jiren worthy of her trust.
"But he's also your twin brother, Moyu." Feng Tianyi reasoned out. Tang Moyu might not be aware of what her twin brother had done over the years living as a Zhang and how he suffered from childhood but Feng Tianyi knew.
"I'm sure the last thing he wants to do is to hurt you, given that you are the only family he has right now. Zhang Jiren has no one but you now, Moyu. Can't you at least give him a benefit of the doubt? I know you don't trust him, but he's the best option for them to place an eye within the Zhang family."
"I hope you are not placing your faith blindly on him, Tianyi. Whether he's my brother or not, that's for me to tell. It doesn't matter if we share the same blood in our veins because if he betrayed your trust, don't expect me to believe any word he would say in the future."
Feng Tianyi sighed and said no more. He wouldn't force her to believe in Zhang Jiren anymore. Whatever that Zhang Jiren was keeping from them, it wouldn't change the fact that he held Tang Moyu as his utmost priority.
He had seen how Zhang Jiren looked at and acted around his wife and children with such longing, something anyone couldn't? easily fake. And now that he was married to Li Meili, didn't this mean that he was also part of their small family?
"Look here. Zhang Jiren said that he found this recording suspicious." Feng Tianyi said as he played the first video.
On it, they could see a parking space and the same familiar car Tang Beixuan owned. There wasn't anything suspicious about it as there were no strangers who went close to his car except himself and the roaming guards around the area.
"What's so suspicious about it?" She questioned.
"Zhang Jiren said that the parking space's security is tight and it wouldn't be easy for anyone to have access on Beixuan's car unless they have a pass or they are working in the Zhang Corporation building. Watch closely, Moyu and tell me what's wrong with these recordings."
Tang Moyu watched closely, trying to figure out what could be so wrong with the said recordings. The first video showed her deceased brother's car clearly at 15:00. There were no people around, but at the same time on the second video, a man appeared on the passenger side of the car, which wasn't seen on the first one.
"It's a guard, but what was he doing there?" She asked curiously.
The man had only stood there at the blind spot of the first camera for a full minute doing nothing. He didn't even dare to open the driver's door or make any move. Was this the person who tampered with Tang Beixuan's car?
"Yes, it's one of the guards." Feng Tianyi answered before pulling out the file Zhang Jiren sent him. "Zhang Jiren said that the guard has been working with them for at least two years now. What made him suspicious was the fact that he suddenly stopped showing up at work after Beixuan died. No one knows where he is at the moment as he is reported missing by his wife a week ago."
