Chapter 713 - It’s a Pity You Survived (1)

The same guard who was seen in the recordings hadn't shown up at work after Tang Beixuan's death? Indeed, something smells really fishy about it. It couldn't be just a coincidence at all. There was no doubt that he was involved in the scheme against her, but why did he target Tang Beixuan instead of her?

Just the mere thought of her dear brother losing his life and being robbed of the future and happiness he had planned to share with Li Meili, Tang Moyu's rage returned to full force. She swore with everything that she had that she would find the culprit and get justice for her brother's untimely death.

Feng Tianyi gripped her good hand and twined her fingers with his. Seeing the rage flashing in her eyes, it honestly pained him to see his wife like this. Tang Beixuan might not be her brother by blood, but the young man had been very close to Tang Moyu since they were younger.

"We'll get to the bottom of this, Moyu. I promise you, we'll get through this together." He promised her.

Tang Moyu looked at their hands and realized how she had been relying on her husband more and more these days. Initially, she abhorred the idea of being indebted to others, which was why she rarely sought anyone's help, except from Li Meili and Gu Yuyao.

She took deep calming breaths and was forced to reign her anger. The empress knew that they also needed to be cautious and couldn't afford to make a mistake that could harm people around her.

"I'm sorry, Moyu. It's probably my fault. Whoever it is, his hatred must be so intense that he doesn't mind involving innocent people in his revenge. I dragged you into this. I'm sorry." Feng Tianyi apologized. If it wasn't for his sins from the past, the people he had offended wouldn't dare target her to hurt him.

"I've already known the consequences of being with you, Tianyi." She reminded him. "Hadn't I tried to keep my distance from you and failed miserably? Before I knew it, you were already part of my life." She admitted.

Why did it have to turn out this way anyway? The Feng Tianyi in the past wasn't the same Feng Tianyi in front of her. People changed and even villains could have a change of heart when they face a turning point in their lives.

It wasn't like she was trying to justify her husband's sins in the past, but Tang Moyu believed that each person had an inner demon they had to deal with and that includes Feng Tianyi.

Feng Tianyi leaned forward and kissed her crown, feeling relieved that she had accepted him as he was, including the not so good person that he was before. He didn't think there would be another woman who could love and accept him wholeheartedly like Tang Moyu did.

It was impossible for him to change the past but that didn't mean he couldn't be a better man for his wife and children in the future. If he had to pay for his mistakes, people around him shouldn't suffer from it.

"This man, where can we find him?" Tang Moyu asked, allowing her husband to hold her close.

"Lianchen already sent a team to find his whereabouts. We just need to wait for a little more. It's only a matter of time and we will find him." He told her.

"What else do we know about him? I don't think Beixuan knew him at all. He would have mentioned befriending one of the guards to me just like how he mentioned the few acquaintances he had at work." Tang Moyu leaned her head on Feng Tianyi's shoulder as she pondered about how her brother was faring during his stay at Zhang Corporation.

"Even Zhang Jiren wasn't sure what the connection between Beixuan and the guard was. I suspect that he was just an accomplice and was paid to tamper his car." He agreed with her.

"To think that it wasn't really an accident…" Tang Moyu's lips quivered as she remembered her brother's final moments that he shared with her and Tang Wanyu. If she had known the accident would happen and would take his life, she shouldn't have agreed for Tang Beixuan to drive that night.

Her elder sister left the country grieving Tang Beixuan's passing and couldn't bear to stay with them any longer. Tang Moyu understood that it might take some time for them to get over the grief they experienced, but she hoped that there would be a day when they could smile genuinely once again, especially Li Meili.

"None of us wanted this to happen. I'm sure Beixuan also didn't want this to happen at all, especially how he'd been looking forward to ask for Li Meili's hand in marriage."

"I know. If only we could prevent it from happening." But Tang Moyu knew better that she cannot change anything from the past and the what-if thoughts wouldn't be able to help them at all.

"Li Meili would need you now more than ever." Feng Tianyi said the most obvious thing right now, which Tang Moyu understood. "We'll have to make sure she and her baby are safe."

Tang Moyu would have taken her best friend under her wing if Li Meili hadn't married Zhang Jiren, but she understood enough as a mother that Li Meili only did what she had done because she didn't want to drag her child into a pointless legal battle.

"Speaking of Meili, I will accompany her to her prenatal check up tomorrow. You wouldn't mind if I leave for a while, right?" She told Feng Tianyi.

Feng Tianyi pondered for a moment. Tang Moyu and their children hadn't left home since she came back from the hospital. He wanted her to stay for her safety, but knew that she was right when she said they needed to be in control of their lives and shouldn't leave in fear.

"Fine, I'll arrange it for you and Li Meili."
